A More Efficient Engine For 4 X 4's.

I Geoffrey Smith, hold copyright documents pertaining to the information below, dated 6th August, 1996.

Some years ago I developed a theory relating to measuring the efficiency of balanced systems or nearly balanced systems (according to the laws of physics ).
It was not until later, I realized that the combustion engine of a motor vehicle was in itself a balanced system. Or rather the individual pistons within cylinders were systems within the overall system of the engine! (They could be considered individual motors making up a part of the total motor)

Anyway getting back to the theory - This required the monitoring of the system over a minimum time frame of five timing points at the end of which a logical conclusion could be made as to whether the system was operating as efficiently as it could be, or if there should be a small or large adjustment made!

This theory could then be applied to each cylinder of a combustion engine. There would be one timing point at top dead centre, a second near the bottom of the downstroke and three others in between. ( 72 degrees between each. )

The monitoring of the system would be via the compression ratio at each timing point per cylinder. Those five readings could be linked to get an overall picture of the performance of each cylinder.

ie.

1 - 2
1 - 3
1 - 4
1 - 5
2 - 3
2 - 4
2 - 5
3 - 4
3 - 5
4 - 5

It is this coupling of data figures that I believe would be unique and is the logical reasoning behind producing a balanced system.
These figures can be fed into a computer for analysis of exactly how much fuel that particular cylinder required when piston was T.D.C. With the unique coupling of the monitoring points, the onboard energy management system can recognize when a load is introduced on the system and whether that load is small or large. The adjustment to the fuel flow then is virtually automatic.

With the far greater loads placed on 4 X 4 engines, the coupling method will allow much smoother operation of the throttle through all situations. I am convinced this theory would work and would result in -

1. Greater fuel economy.

2. Greater horsepower for size of motor.

3. Greater Torque.

4. Smoother throttle for all loads.

5. Less maintenance costs.

6. Less emissions.

7. Slightly Cooler running.

I also am convinced that much of the present gadgetry on modern engines would not be required and would become obsolete. With the cost of fuel rising exponentially the further we get into this Century, I believe it is imperative that we run vehicles with more efficient engines.

Note: The five timing points mentioned are for minimum performance analysis.
For a greater degree of performance, monitoring points could be at 36 degrees, 18 degrees or at 9 degrees.

In creating this post I wish it to be known that I am a lay person with very limited access to working on motor engines. All of my theories have been derived from logic! Excuse the pretty rough explanation involved!

With Kind Regards,

Perhaps he's just starting a discussion and mentioned the copyright to lessen the chances of somebody stealing his idea.

Or not.

I was invited back to this site to fill out profile - which I have done!
Spammer?? I don't really know what it means!!!

I've been posting all over the place trying to get this off the ground ( check taurus26 in google! ) and for the following reasons -
1. To be shot down in flames for technical reasons.
2. To find assistance to test and build myself. ( I'm broke! )
3. To finance my major desire. ( See my URL in profile. )

Regarding -
1. Nobody really has yet.
2. Not a peep have I heard!
3. I want to raise a huge amount of money and give 99% to charity. Is there anything wrong with that? We like to do things in a big way in Aussie too!

And wouldn't you mention copyright?

And by the way- I must post elsewhere about getting some of your great photos!
( again see my URL )

1. It happens
2. Don't think your going about the right way.. Texas is a little far from Australia, hard for anybody here to help unless you just want $$ sent, which we tend to view as kinda dumb, to say it nicely.
3. See #2

1. probably won't either, unless you change your marketing strategies
2. see #1
3. Not very believable...Most folks prefer the percentages to work more in their favor.
3a. See #3
3b. Lots of good folks in Aussie, I met many and thought they were way cool.., But just like US I bet y'all have your share of shady characters as well.
