Exclamation Need Help!

Removed the old exhaust manifolds to put on the new headers and found two broken off bolts all the way in the head. What is the best method to remove them? Best tool? Sears sells a fancy remover kit for abour 50 bucks but does it work? Let me know your ideas and opinions, gota get this thing back on the road ASAP!

Thanks

are they broke off flush with the head or is there any sticking out?

I've used two different kinds of bolt extractors from sears and they worked, I did tear them up pretty good and took them back after I was done. it wasn't worth the money for the damage they took...

I'd get 'em soaking in wd-40 or similar, maybe try some heat if they get really hard... good luck to ya, it's always a pain.

If they are broken off in down in the hole, center punch and drill.

Invest in a reverse cut drill bit. You may get lucky when the heat builds, it may turn on out. At any rate, you won't be tightening it while drilling.

Thats a good idea. How hard is it to find those bits? Special order? or a local thing. I live in an industrial area down by Houston, so maybe I can find one, need it today.

If it's still not out, try Grainger for the ez-out.

Gummi Bear rock stacker
can you weld to it? If so, build it up, and then weld a nut on it. Soak liberally with penetrating oil before turning the wrench.

J&L industrial is the best source for reverse twist drill bits, and they have EZ outs as well.
