in need of help with my 77 scout carb

I just bought this 1977 4x4 scout and the guy said it would not run, so i poured gas into the carb and it started up so i gave the guy $750 and hauled it home....i get it home i follow fuel lines they are all good, then i remove fuel filter and try to start gas comes out of the pump so i put new filter on and now fuel is coming out but still wont start unless i pour gas into the carb?????

here is where the gas is coming out of and making carb over flow?

The 73 I just bought has that same carb. Holley 2210. I picked up a rebuild kit from the parts store for less than $20. The reason fuel is coming out, is because the needle is probably sticking due to gunk or varnish. Those carbs are also bad about the accelerator pumps going bad. They are not a very good design.

Ive got an extra 345, was built for power, has a cam, but no carb. If another engine is needed. I would get a 4brrel manifold, and buy a small 4bl carb and b done. Sand that sucker good and get some rustbullet paint and ill shoot it in there 4 ya.

most stock carbs have an aluminum tag telling your parts dude what kit it needs

maybe Hollys are different haven't had one in a long time and never re built one. I have built a few ford 2 bbl MC2150.
The holly is the same design as the Ford MC2150 I would say it was about as good a 2 bbl as you were going to find and super easy to work on. Dependable.
