np241 doubler

So who has done one? I noticed a guy on pirate selling adapters to do a np241 to np205. With the rig I have now its a chevy 350 (nothing special) to a th350 transmission to a np205 (believe 27 spline right?)

I was thinking a np241 to np205 doubler as it is slightly cheaper and deeper geared, and lighter than a 203 to 205. I am pretty sure I know where to get a np241 super cheap locally, but not sure about the 27 spline 205 mating. Being use to doublers and lower gearing I am gonna have to do something to this new rig so what say you????

I've got a 231 to 300 doubler that I love. I am worried about the outputs on the 300 though, and I think it probably would of been easier and close to the same price as an used atlas 4 speed.

I haven't figured out which way to go yet, put more money into this doubler or start saving for the atlas.

That's a nice looking unit. Looks a lot like the NWF setup. Wish they had one for a 29 spline cummins setup.

Well now I am not sure what to do..........my source down here didnt have but one 241c which I don't think he will sell but had plenty of 203s. Had plenty of ford 205s but no chevys ugh. I guess I need to find out if the 203s are 32 spline (how do I do that besides counting splines lol) and then convert my 205 to 32 spline.........or so many choices.

I like it also, but decided I'm going to save up for a 4 speed atlas. Thought it would work for you though.

why do you need a 32 spline 203?? Your transmission is 27 spline. IMO it is a waste to do 203/205 doubler. It's a ton of weight, all hanging off 4 bolts on an aluminum case and you gain 1 speed from it. Even still, all that $$ and you dont even have 4:1.. 241/205 would be cool, as it gives you multiple rations (1:1, 2:1, 2.6:1, 5.2:1 roughly). I would just save the $$ and buy an atlas if it were me. I have a transfer case with way too much tied up in it already, and wish I had gone atlas instead.

Now duffys thing is pretty damn sweet, i may look into that myself seeing that it makes no sense for me to go atlas in my junk....

I had a 208 to put in it on the cheap and get 2.72 out of it...its not 4 to 1 but I bought all of it for like 70 bucks.

Even though a 203/205 isn't exactly 4:1, I doubt anyone can tell the difference between 4:1 and 3.93:1. Heavy- Yes. Would I run it..No. Too many better options available.

Also, where are you getting 2.1 and 2.6? A 205 is 1.96 and the 241 is 2.72 = 5.33.

Just for the record a 208 is 2.6:1

Can't swap a 208 onto that th350 either, the 203/205 version uses a shorter output on the tranny than the np208 version.

How does that work?? Can't see anything on my phone. Does it include a spud shaft or longer input for the 208 or 241?? Without that it doesnt help.. The 203/205 version has roughly 3/4" of stick out from back of tranny case, and 208 version is 3" or so roughly.. Now, I have seen, owned, and used a conversion kit that allowed you to replace a 700r4 with a th350 and stay same length, it was a 4 spacer that mated between the th350 and the stock 700r4/208 adapter, however it used a shirttail 2wd th350 to work.

it is a kit by the same people that is made for replacing a T700 with a T350 albeit a 4x4 version. that then mates to a 208. also, some of the 81/82's were factory 350/208 combo's. although in all honesty, i don't know if the 350 was different, the 208 was different or it used a spacer.

The 350 was different. The majority of those were lockup transmissions as well.

I'm still not seeing how a spacer of any sort makes a 203/205 th350 adapt to a 208/241.. The output shaft is too short, so it would have to include a spud shaft, and different transmission output, or a different transfer case input..

Just read the instruction on that kit you posted Jeff, it uses a 2wd th350 and converts it to a 4x4 after you cut the shaft down. Would not work for replacing a 205 with a 208.

Its used to put a 205 behind a 700r4. What about the 241 planetary box with another 241. Is that just too low?

I run the same gearing in my doubler 2.72 x 2.72 and love it. You can shift it every which way, so why are you concerned about how low it is? Low low is perfect for the rocks, when im on the trail I'll shift the front one to high for more wheel speed, and when it's on the road, it can be shifted to 1:1.
