O4 SRX missfire

My wife has an 04 SRX she loves and refuses to trade in. It has a rough idle misfire problem the dealership diagnosed as needing a new $850 computer, a new set of plugs and a new coil on the #6 cylinder. The engine is the V6-auto tranny, 4WD
Let me say up front the SUV ran great till she took it in to have new catalytic convertors installed on a warranty deal. The miss started on the way home. I crawled under it to look for wires not plugged in and/ or burned by the exhaust and I did find a bundle of wires going from the O2 sensor up to a plug that was unpluged and pluged it back in. (The dealership flatly denied any wromgdoing and refused to help us so all this computer/ plug/ coil work was done by a different dealership.)

It had a keyway so it was not plugged in wrong. Still had a miss and to make matters worse once you turned the key to start it it just kept turning over but would not start. Now it does start up but has the miss/ missfire or whatever is going on. Any ideas?
Thanks.

So the computer, plugs and coils have been replaced? Kinda hard to tell but Im thinking they have and it still runs rough. If you havent replaced that stuff I would replace plugs and wires first then move to coils and then to the 'puter. I would go in that first dealership and get loud in front of some other customers.....that usually gets things done. At least for me it does.....lol

I'd take it to someone w/ a decent scantool and start fresh and see what codes are stored.

Have you tried to simply reset the computer by disco'ing the battery?

If it runs okay when you first start it cold, or at full throttle, but misses when warm idling, it's likely a bad 02 sensor. The computer should put it in closed when operating temp is reached driving normally, but will be open loop (no feedback from 02 sensors) when you first start it, or you really mash the gas pedal.

Easy enough to check that out.

Ok

Zach I will check into the possible injector and Glen they supposedly also replaced all 4 O2 sensors when they did the cats but, I will verify that. They do look new, just crawled under and looked.
PrimetimeK5 I hear ya, most dealerships would do a person right. They did nock off all but 1 hour of labor but I still could not believe they were saying they could not diagnose the miss which is why we took it to the second dealership for the plugs, wires and coil and of course it is still in the same shape. The front O2 sensors look like the mechanic twisted them counterclockwise and then screwed them in clockwise to be honest. I would think the proper way would have been to screw them in then simply plug them into the harness above but the harness was a little difficult to get to from what I see so it seems they took the easy way out. Maybe one or more of the wires in one or both of the O2 sensors is broken? I am not giving up yet!
Thanks for the ideas and good advice.

If the engine light is on, as I'm sure it is, if you don't have a cheapo code reader, take it to vato zone and have them pull the codes for free. That will tell you which, if any, o2's aren't working, and probably what cylinder is misfiring, etc...
