Odd Question

Does anyone know if shorty headers from a 88-95 tbi Chevy engine will fit on a 87-91 tbi older style trucks? I am wondering because i wanted to run the shorty headers but the ones for the 87-91 Chevy are expensive it seems you can find the later model ones fairly cheep, it seems they should work but i don't know about body clearance. Any help would be appreciated.

i had an extra set of 73-87 sbc headers i tried to put on my brothers 93 chevy and it was a no go, the headers hit his crossmember and hung down too low it seemed to me, if you straight axled the truck they would work and its a win win situation

Yeah i am getting parts together for a straight axle swap so that shouldn't be a problem. So just to be clear you think that headers from a 89-98 Chevy would fit my old style 91?

As far as bolting them up. Hit up the local parts house for some gaskets. I think most of it the frame clearance.

Yeah that's what i am afraid of, i may try to find someone with a set of factory exhaust manifolds that i can test fit to see if it looks like they will hit the frame or fire wall. Thanks for all the help i will report back what i find.
