Part Identification

I was driving around my K5 today when I noticed a knocking sound coming from underneath the truck. It sounded like a rock in an aluminum can. I looked all over the place for the noise. I finally found the problem inside the tranny dust shield. The problem is that, I cant figure out what it is........The truck is working and sounds just fine. I rotated the tourque convertor around looking for something wrong, but found nothing. Anyone have any idea what this is before I pull the Tranny out? The quarter wasnt in there

Automatic transmissions are gay.

Flipped up tow mirrors are the sagging pants of the truck world.

Did your truck used to have a standard? Could it be a pilot bushing that came out from the end of the crank? Just a thought. I just had to put one in when i did my standard swap and thats what it looks like to me.

No, its always been an auto. Where would this pin come from? I know its not a tranny line-up pin, because those are solid and beveled...................

is it the line up pin on the flexplate, the one that is in the crank?? The tranny line up pins would fall outside if the fell anywhere, and the only other lineup pin is the one on the rear of the crank.

Yea, he's right. It's from the flexplate. Throw it away and wheel on buddy.

One more thing, Is there a reason why it is distorted? From knocked around the bellhousing?

Hopefully it just worked it's way out, not came out cause the flexplate is cracked. Noise all gone since you pulled it out?
