propane

ok need a little help im running propane on my toyota but want to make it a little more street friendly. so waht i would like to know is would it be easier to make my motor a fi or just keep it like it is and just bring tons of tanks with me? looking to be able to drive it to trails that are around 3hrs one way. thanks for the help

I wouldnt trust your wheels and tires for a 6 hour round trip plus wheeling. Keep the truck and get a trailer, you'll be happy you did.

I was in the same boat years back and just kept on working on my rig until I could buy a tow rig. I had to bum a few rides to and from the trails from time to time but it's better than killing yourself driving it on the highway.

Look at it practically. IF you get ~10mpg on a 200 mile run (400 mile round trip) trip, you will need 4 10gallon tanks just for the drive. If you could acquire propane there at the site, then it makes it much easier. Fill up once you get there, and then again before you head home. The big problem is finding somewhere that is open on a Sunday if the park doesn't have it. A bunch of truck stops have them, but it just depends on where you are planning to head.

Well, if you don't have a truck or a trailer and you need to drive it on the street or to and from the trails. Propane is hard to find on the road! You are just about stuck having to make some kind of a change. Go back to gasoline, bum a ride, or truck and trailer, or wheel model 4x4's. There is not a whole lot of options.
Take care of your family first, Work on your rig and make it more street friendly until you get your s**t together, then worry about wheeling.

another thing to remember is the gauges on pane tanks are not the most accurate. that and will you be able to actually see them while driving so you'd know when to stop to swap tanks?
do efi or tow it.
i know mine at highway speeds absoluetly inhales propane
