Propane problems

I recently purchased a propane setup and after a month of waiting for it to show up I got it put on and everything seemed to be working ok. That weekend went to bridgeport for a test run and after about 2 trails it decided it barely wanted to run. If I would try to rev the motor much over idle it would begin cutting out and sound like he!!. We got back to camp and found a small vaccum leak. So we pulled the mixer off and cleaned everything up made sure the bolts holding the mixer to the base plate were tight then put it back on the intake. After that it would idle smooth butstill wouldn't rev. We could push on the purge button on the regulator and hit the throttle and would wind up pretty good. Our opinion is the regulator needs a rebuild. Nobody in our group is what we would call an expert on propane so I thought I would throw this out there and see if anybody else had an opinion on the matter.

Yeah sounds like the converter. Also check the lockoff for trash. You can blow through it with compressed air. If your converter is an impco the rebuild kit will come with detailed instructions on how to rebuild it. What parts are you running? 425, model E? V8, v6? More info.

This is on my buggy with a 350. Impco model e. 425. I am putting a rebuild kit in it this weekend. Just checking to see if we have overlooked something.

Could also be freezing up. Is your converter freezing cold to the touch after the motor has warmed up? Model E's are super easy to rebuild. The onlt tricky part for me was setting the height on the plunger valve but once I got that right it worked great.

AggieTJ2007 will become famous soon enough
the only other thing that I can think of is to make sure your heater hoses aren't reversed of the mixer isn't pulling enough vacuum from the regulator

But I agree I would rebuild it first

Also make sure your diaphragm in you carb is good. One backfire can easily damage the it.

If it can be damaged easily from a backfire then that may be a problem now. It didn't backfire until all this starting happening. I will check it when I get a chance to work on the rig.

Diaphragms are cheap and are kinda like a tune up on propane carbs. I would go ahead and put a new one in if it is very old.
