Replacing a 6.5 with a gas engine will the 4l80e work??

Buddy has a older GM truck the 6.5 is done. He is going to install a carbed 350. Will the 4l80e still work anybody know what mods are needed. The 6.5 is fly by wire dose the trans get input form the peddle position? Doses it need a tac signal?

Are there any Threads about this already?

Mike

I'm pretty sure it just depends on the year and what has the "stand alone" controller.
I know those are the transmissions you look for when swapping into an older truck.
