Starting a motor after a year, help

I haven't turned over my 350tbi in 13 months. It will not be long untill I'm ready to stick it back in the Jimmy. Is there anything I should do before I try and start it, or just hook it all up and turn the key?

Automatic transmissions are gay.

prime the oil system w/ a drill or a oil primer tool. using the oil pump shaft below the dist.

Also, to do it real good, pull the plugs, have someone run the drill while you turn the crank with a ratchet. If you want, but you dont have too, I do that on new engines.

I plan on running new lines but I will flush the lines with the fuel pump before put them on the motor.

pull the plugs and drop a little tranny fluid in the cylinders and let it sit for a day or so. It helps break down any contamination the cylinder walls got while it was sitting, and keeps the pistons and rings from scaring the walls. After changing the oil, use a drill to prime the oil system, and roll it over to get the excess tranny fluid out of the cylinders. Make sure nothing has built a home in any openings, and put it back together and fire it. OR, just hit the key and see what happens!

Personally, I would just start it. I've started several engines that had been sitting for a while without doing anything and havent had a problem except for occasional carb. problems.

You shouldn't just start them because you can fracture a piston ring or groove the cam or crank. You always want to prime and clean everything. My Jeep went almost fifteen years without anything. No start, bump, roll, or touch. Prime and clean.
