Which T-Case

So since I blew my stock case up while I was home, I have nothing but time to research and figure out what I am going to upgrade to when I get home again..... I am either going with a Stak Monster Box 3sp(5.44LL crawl:89.56).... or Atlas 4sp(11.70LLL-crawl:192.63).....

I cant decide exactly which one I like more, so that is why I would like to see what you all think... the price difference is about +550 for the Atlas what do you think??

Either way I will not be buying it until around December... so I have plenty of time for you guys to make up my mind while I am saving up the funding!!!

I am running an auto with a 2.45 1st gear. I am pretty happy with it, and up until I blew up my case, I was planning on just running a BlackBox between the tranny and stock Tcase... now I have almost a year before I will be home to play with it so I figure I might as well upgrade the case, and hopefully never have to replace it again! Could you imagine a BB in front of the atlas4.. like a 525:1 crawl!!!!!

I am really leaning towards the Atlas.. and by the looks of you so far so are all of you!!

Are you taking in to account the torque converter when figuring your final crawl? Depending who you ask, most say it multiplies your crawl anywhere from 1.5 to 2x.

If I got rid of my Stak, I would do an Atlas 4sp 5.44 or a black box and 205.

This. I like the idea of an atlas but it's hard to beat how strong a black box/205 combo would be.

If money is a concern then a black box/205, if money is not an issue a 4spd Atlas.

well that depends on if you ask me or my wife! I get my end of year bonus around the 10th of december every year, so taking 3700 and putting it on a transfer case leaves me with plenty left over for christmas shopping.... but ask her and she will say "you want to spend how much more on that big piece of %^^#!!!!" but I can hide away a couple hundred every month so by the time the bonus comes in, I will only need about 2k-2500 and she may be a little more in the christmas spirit about that!!

I have heard most people saying that about the TC, but I never put that number into the math, because I dont know how acurate it is or if my converter is 1.5 or 2x... I wouldnt mind doing a BB/205 combo but for the length of my front driveshaft already I think I am kind of shying away from the BB, but then again I would be pretty close to having the same length front and rear driveshafts if I pushed my case back another 8" so maybe that is something for me to look into also.. but I want slider shafts on both so it wouldnt really matter much. what is the lowest gearset available for the 205?

IMHO, I would at least take in to consideration the TC. Right now you have a ~32 crawl, with TC ~48-64.

If you go with the Atlas 10.3 you will be ~169 crawl without the TC - Your actual with the TC would be anywhere from ~254-339. I know "lower is better", but in my opinion with an auto much over 200 isn't useable, especially with a V8.

What is your wheelbase?

In the end it's your decision, but personally I would consider the 5.44 Atlas before the 10.3.

The BB is 7.25" and the BBi is only 4" in front of a Stak, Atlas or d300.

205 LoMax is 3:1

with all the stock stuff I had before my TCase give up I had a 45:1crawl, and most times it was very gutless... that is why I want to step up to the 10.3- 4 spd, so in LHL mode I can still have the 5.44 ratio... but if it is not enough I have the LLL option!!

My wheelbase is 135-40" I have my links tack at 137" at the moment.
