My 1980 cj has a tf999 behind the 304, it works but I woudl like to freshen it up and install a shift kit. The main issue I am finding is tryign to locate parts for it.. I find 727 and 904 stuff, but thats it. I heard through the grapevine that 727 and 999 rebuild kits are the same, any truth to that? How about shift kits? I have also heard the 727 is pretty much the easiest tranny to rebuild, does the 999 fit the category as well?? Is it something I could do in the garage, ina clean area with basic hand tools?
