Konvicted just gettin started
Tranny Help

My bro has a 86 bronco that will not shift gears.we were told the rod that goes from the carb to the tranny was missing and this is why.we were also told even with that not being hooked up it should shift but it doesnt.is this correct and does anyone know where i could get this part.no body can seem to find it.

sounds like the shift detent rod. you tried any junkyards?

That rod is called the kickdown control rod, the transmission will shift without it you just can't get passing gear when you floor it.

What motor/transmission do you have?

i know the motor is a older 302,and the tranny is a c5 i beleive.could be wrong.i know they unhooked the cable that someone put in place of the rod but it still doesnt shift at all.
