88gmcjimmy just gettin started
transfer case

Im wondering if a transfer case out of a 82 gmc jimmy work in a 77 k5 blazer jus a transfer case swap jus wondering if it would work any ideas will be appreciated

you would have to find a 208 output for the 350 and use the slipyoke driveshaft out of the 82..or put the 700 & 208 in 77...

we have a the frame and everythign off the frame of the 82 so where could we find the output from the 208 to the 350 at and how much would it cost if you know

some 81s came with that combo(junk yard) or you could get a new one from a trans parts house...oh yea you will need the 208 shifter also...if the 77 has a 205 i would keep it..

how could i find out what transfer case is in the 77? we was thinking about swapping them out cause the chain is slipping in it.

If the 77 has a chain driven case, it will have a NP203. The NP203 has a range box in front of the main case, which is all gears, and the main case has the chain part. It's a full time case btw, can be converted to part time with a kit from MileMarker.

i was jus wanting to know if we could swap the cases out and if it would all bolt up and work because we have the whole drive train off of the 82 and the tranmission doesnt work right but the transfer case is still good will it bolt up and work?

You would probably be best off to replace the chain in the 203 or find a used one that's in decent shape. By the time you find all the parts to swap the 208 in you will probably have more time and money into it than just fixing whats in it.
