two piece rear main bbc

i am about to attempt a two piece rear main seal replacement on my bbc tomorrow. in truck, no trans.
any tips tricks or helpful comments. i havent done on before so ill be winging it.
where to dab rtv?
how tight do i crank down on the cap?

also any tips on reinstall of the oil pan gasket? torque sequence?


seals in question are felpro rubbery ones.

Tried to call you Matt.

Looks like you'll need to drop the oil pan in order to get at the seal. There is a specific way the seal seats in the block according to what I have read on the internet. You have to make sure that you get all the seal and all the crap out of the groove to ensure complete seating.

Did you call Mr. Janke like I said? He'll give you advice.
