vortec 350 question

I'm looking for a new long block and found these sold by ATK:
http://www.chevy350engines.com/rgc8.html

Price is 1995.00 shipped, no exchange, 3 yr 75k warranty seems like a good deal.

I priced the same one at the chevy dealer here he said around $2600, w/ 100k warranty.

Anyone have any imput either way on these? I figure going thru the dealer would be preferrable, but $600 is $600, and if they are both new, it's only the warranty that's materially different.

Oh, forgot about tax, that would be another $200 if I bought from the dealer locally.

The salesperson told me over the phone that it's all new, except the valve covers. He said technically they couldn't call it all new, but everything down to the block is except the covers. I'll check Jegs, thanks.

Jegs doesn't list anything later than a '95 model, I need a '96 w/ vortec heads.

The best place ever to buy GM products is Scoggins Dickey in Lubbock. [EMAIL=www.sdpc2000.com] Check it out, they have some killer stuff. You could also resort to the old junk yard motor and have it built at your favorite machine shop for cheaper than that I think.
