Vortec into a YJ
Getting ready to put a 6.0 in my jeep. Curious if anyone around here has any experience putting a later model v-8 in a Wrangler. I can handle the motor mounts okay, along with the wiring.
My main concerns are will I need some kind of special headers, and what about brake master cylinder clearance. Anything else I should know?

Sounds like a good plan. The 6.0 should be a beast in the YJ. Nothing like a V-8.

Some progress... Got the motor in today, fabbed up some motor mounts. I did have to clearance the passenger side exhaust manifold, about 1/4 inch, to clear the motor mount, just heated it w/ the torch and pounded it w/ a hammer. Kinda lucked out there, didn't have to buy the pricey swap headers. Also got the Tcase in w/ a new clocking ring from DIY4x4, so it hardly hangs below the frame rails.
Now just a jumble of wires to figure out, fab up some driveshafts and skidpate, and DONE!!! ![]()

Hmm, it's slightly bigger than a 350, cause a 350 is 5.7L. Not sure on the cubic inch thing though.

6.0l is approx. 364ci, it's basically a stroked 350. Has the same bore, but longer stroke.

IT LIVES!!!!!!
The wire harness had a bunch of mis-labeled wires, finally got them sorted out, and it fired right up. It's been a frustrating last few days because of this glitch. Harness was made by Howell, FYI. I will not be purchasing anything else from them. I must have made 10 calls to their tech, and he could never figure out what was wrong. I finally got the old harness out and compared injector wires, they were all labeled for the wrong sides of the motor.
