what's ya'll opinion on this?

I bought this block for $10 the only thing i notice that is wrong with it is the starter ear is broke off. it broke the corner of the bellhousing and that one bolt holding the starter on off. can it be fixed? it is a 86-90 truck 4-bolt main block.
i don't have the peice that broke off but i thought of finding a junk 305 and cutting off the ear and try to weld it or braze it back on after careful measurements.

Wildebeest will become famous soon enough
I had the same thing happen to me two days after I bought my K5. (they guy didn't tell me about that part. ) I pulled the engine and took it to a shop that did cast iron welding. (mine was a 78 blazer, don't know about your block) He welded it up for a price and I put it back in. Had to do a bit of shimming to get the starter right but it worked out pretty good. $10 is not bad if that is all that is wrong with it. Good luck.
