Who here is the mopar guru???

ok so with a little wheeling and dealing i ended up with 2 318 la motors, and might end up with a magnum 318. what is the better option for a 77 ram crewcab?? i obviously am in need of torque my thoughts are pop a cam some heads a dual plane intake and shortie headers on a freshened up 318 and drop it in, or if i get the magnum would that fuel injected setup work better (pre. obdII) for drivabilaty?

I'd personally would go with a BB. Your fuel miliage is going to suck anyways. You can find a 383 mag or a 440 fairly easy.

I want to do a 12.0:1 440 on propane but funds are currently not in my favor, and i have these motor sitting in my garage, would zero decking the LA block and adding the magnum heads with a dual plane intake on propane work it should end up near 9.5-10.0:1 cr i know propane likes a little more but still doable??

I guess to reword the question a bit better without building a new motor would yall do a FI motor, or bump the compression on a carbed motor and run it on propane?

personally i'd go fuel injected since carb's are kinda crappy at steep angles but i'm a web wheeler. also i don't know much about what you can do to dodge engines but have you looked into stroking it? that would definately beef up your torque numbers

If you go carb, a holley truck avenger works really well, as well as a Motorcraft 2100 carb or even a quadrajet.. Anything else requires quite a bit of tweaking. I run the 2100 on my AMC 304 and it has done pretty well on angles, however I do intend to go to TBI in the near future. You can adapt a Chevy TBI setup to that engine pretty easily.

Has anyone built a motor to run on strictly propane?
from my understanding the pain likes to be squeezed around 12.0:1, with a short duration and wide lobe seperation, and a bit more timing.

it'll run on 9.5 to 12. from what i've read the sweet spot seems to be about 10.5 to 11 haven't gotten to in depth on cam and timing for propane but if it'll run on stock engines then that's good enough for me

It'll run on a bone stock motor.
