Angry [Rant] I swear, sometimes I just don't know

:sigh:

A week ago, I put up a good old white-trash blow-up Santa in my front yard. It's not exactly Buckingham Palace decoration, granted, but my kids are little and they like that sort of thing. Big thing, too - a Santa driving a train pulling a carousel that had snowmen and the like spinning around behind it. Probably 15' long and it had a dozen stakes and guide lines holding it down. It's lighted and I let it run all the time after I put it up. My boys think it's cool and we wave to Santa when we go run errands and such.

You guessed it: stolen last night out of my yard, some time between 11:30PM and 6:30AM. Didn't bother taking the expensive extension cord I had running it, so you figure it was kids. Now mind you, my yard is on the corner of the main drag in our neighborhood and I have a streetlight directly over my front yard. I have four neighbors on my cul-de-sac. Even though they just cut the lines and left behind most of the stakes, it still would have taken them a few minutes to get it because you couldn't fit it on anything smaller than a gooseneck unless you let it deflate. Of course, no one saw squat.

It's not so much the Santa, though it did cost over $100 bucks a couple of years ago. But seriously, who steals a Santa? So, this morning, when I took the kids to church it was about what you'd figure, "Daddy, where is Santa?" Not to mention the obvious fact that means some shitbirds were in my yard last night and I never heard them - I guess I've gotten so old, tired and fat that I can't hear a damned thing anymore. Time was, if a squirrel farted in my yard, I'd know it. That bothers me the most. The little peckers could have made off with half my garage and I would have slept right through it, I guess. We need a dog again, since it seems I'm no longer reliable. That kind of numbskullery doesn't happen when you have a Great Dane around, let me tell you.

You'd think there'd be some kind of Fear of God in the little, hairless goblins, since those 2 burglars got shot a couple of weeks ago down in Pearland and another one shot dead in Porter a few days ago. (Porter is about 10 minutes from me.) But, apparently not.

I figure it's sitting in some kid's back yard right now, or it's in a dumpster. During church this morning, I decided this was the karma train coming back to visit me, repaying some of the stupid stuff I did 25 years ago when I thought I was cool.

Theres nothing lower in life than a thief.

Put up another one and hide in the bush's with a shotgun full of saltrock shells. When they try to steal it again add a lot of sodium to there diet.

That does suck -- but hey dont beat yourself up over it - like you said you did some stupid stuff as a young one just like all of us did. You know when something like that happens I just have to think -- well maybe they needed it more than me -- and -- now I get something new ! I know that does not help with how the kids feel but maybe you can take them shopping and let them pick out something new. Plus a new dog sounds like a great christmas present for the kids !! Good luck with all this - hope it works out for the best -- oh yeah more more thing -- this is one of the great reason why I am glad that I moved to the country.

I doubt kids today "need" anything any worse than any of us. Especially if they've got the free time to be out wandering my neighborhood between midnight and six in the morning. You know the little fudgescicles had to be in a pickup, too. So, they had time, money and wheels.

I will say this - even with all the idiotic crap I did with my fellow ne'er-do-well buddies when I was a teenager (and God knows there was plenty), I never would have even considered going into someone's yard and taking something. Never did it and never even thought about it. Most we ever did was "wrap" someone's house. And, there was that one incident with a potato in the tailpipe - but that ******* had it coming, I swear. Now, mailbox baseball, that one I'll have to answer for. Same for the spray-painted cat. I'm guessing there'll be a bit more karma to go before I'm square with the House on that.

I was very tempted to go the route Snick suggested. Thought very hard about that today while staring at a similar unit at Lowe's but decided against it.

All that would happen is you would see *me* on the news for "assaulting" someone's no-account "loved one". Then, next week, Quannel X could come picket in my yard and call me a racist, unless the kid happened to be white or Hispanic, in which case Quannel & Co. wouldn't much care if I'd set up a deer stand and staked out the yard with a .270 Weatherby.

I found myself absent-mindedly drinking coffee tonight at 6PM...might be a while before I get to sleep.

Rastus has disabled reputation
yeah X, that sucks man.

not karma, thieves are theives, period! Now go put a sign up in the yard where Santa was and let it read "To the person(s) who still my kids Santa, please come back, you left the sack of dogfood for your mother, and she needs it"

now I dunno about all that mischevious stuff you did when you were young.. you must be one of them guys my mommy always warned me about. I was always the perfect Angel so I would not know anything about doing house wrapping, watermelon sampling, water ballons, rotten eggs, rock salt, taters in tailpipes, coil wires, hot wire in the drivers seat etc.. like you guys did...

seriously, do not let them change you way of living, fight back and enjoy your life, it's your home, your yard and your kids, take the kids, go pick out some new decorations and celebrate life with them.

and buy a hearing aid

Thanks for the new sig. I did jerk awake at about 3AM and went out in the yard. For no good reason at all. Rastus' sign idea is growing on me. Maybe coupled with another one at the corner of the yard that says:

<---------------------- GUN LINE --------------------------------->
