What do y'all think about this camper?

I have been wanting something a little bigger, better to stay in when go wheeling.

I like it. Not crazy about the red, but if the price is right who cares.

The rigs I have now are really lite. Maybe 8,000-8500#'s for both. Adding a 3,500# slide-in camper adds way two much tongue weight for my truck.
I would have to buy a new bumper pull trailer if I got this, and I'm sure that would put me over the legal lenth.

Your right, the red sucks big time. He did say his reserve is set around $43,000. The only thing I don't like about it is it doesn't have a queen bed in the back and it doesn't have a oven.

No oven? that means no homemade biscuits for breakfast. I think even $43k isnt that bad. The ones I was looking at were all around $100k.

If you need a trailer, I'll talk to my dad. He's got a 32 foot bumper pull that he's talked about getting rid of. Would be great behind something like that.

Aren't you exempt with an "RV"?

No from the way I read the law. It says over and over 65ft bumper to bumper is the max length. RV can go over gross weight with a class "c" might be what you are thinking.

ok let me ask you guess this, do you need a cdl to drive something like this? because i thought about buying an old pete and building a flatbed for it and haul the yota like that instead of my cummins and gooseneck.

No. You are exempt from having to have a CDL but not for the total 65' length.

See above. But if you can get a semi registered as an RV your good to go. You just have to keep it under 65' in length.

For that price I would jump on it like an 18 year old virgin hooker. Even after paying for a new paint job you would be 50 to 75G ahead of the game.

i would be way under 65'. it would basically just be the semi and i would build a flatbed over the rear wheels, alot like a tow truck. im just wanting the cab and sleeper. but i wonder what it would take a get a semi reg. as a RV?

In a nutshell in New Mexico it has to have sleeping quarters and a bathroom, I would think TX would be the same but I'm not sure

My wife needs a place to stay if I have other people in the house when she comes to the rig to see me.

Yeah but motel rooms can not drive out a country road for a quiet secluded get away.

51Will, The best approach is to buy it and go down to the county court house in person to have the title transferred into your name. ( but do not register it)

Then go back at a later date and tell them you need to register it as an RV because you have rebuilt it into a "motorhome" wink wink. Good rule of thumb is two months later. That way there is a gap where you could be building it.

You could focus on getting a useable rig, and then learning how to get to a from an offroad park first...
