10K I think is way to much for a truck with 250K miles on it.
Nice truck....maybe I'm just to cheap.
I say save your pennies and keep searching.

That will definitely be a puller.
Was it a 2WD? 5 or 6 speed?
If you get it, put in a fuel pressure gauge first thing. The injector pump on that model is very sensitive to low inlet pressure. If you can check the gear ratio, 3.73 would be good for towing a light trailer, 4.10 better for a heavier trailer.

KBB says that price would be for "excellent" condition.
How are the tires? Look in between the duallies, look for weather cracking, it's easy to hide bad tires in there. You know E rated tires are expensive and now you are getting 6 of them.

Make sure the heat and A/C work! I checked my A/C, but never thought to check the heat. Make sure the fuel gauge works! At 5/8 of a tank, i found out that my fuel gauge was bad. Those were the two trouble areas on my 01.

If it has the 6 speed then check for grinding going into 5th or 6th gear. The sincro's go out then the tranny later down the road and it's money to have it fixed/replaced. Nice truck btw!

You talking about the 5 speed that loses overdrive?

Crusher, you can read about the engines here:

$10.995 way to to high for a 249,000 mile truck. It looks clean, but at the most $8900 to $9000 top dallor.
And do you really need a dulley?
It your really into it. Take it to a shop before you buy it. Have the codes read and the fuel pressure check. Only takes acouple mins. If the vp injection pump is trash your eazy $1400+ bucks for a new or rebuilt one. And a couple hundred for the left pump. Which need to be up graded no match what.

Man search some more on craiglist and auto trader. You can find some other deal out there. Them older diesel are dirt cheap right now. Plus i never pay sticker for any automoble.

Yes, do consider if you really need a dually. If you carry a lot of weight, then it's a good thing. If it will be a daily driver, you'll be wearing out extra tires for no reason.

I found an '03 4x4 diesel quadcab 6spd dually w/ 220k for $11k last year. It's well used and isn't a show winner by any means, but mechanically it's very sound.

I'd keep looking if I was you.

If you had $7K in cash, you might could have it for that. Nice truck, but X2 on vote to keep looking for a better deal.

Deals and nice trucks are out. My little brother a month ago. Bought a 98 4x4 2500 12v, 5spd with only 128,000 on it. Its a quad-cab without the two rear opening doors. Very early model 98. Paid like $8500 for it.
Only bad is the paint is pealing and has a cheap roll in bed liner.
And found it on houston's craigslist. been for sale for 6 months.

Sp keep looking.

yap thats the one . buy the updated full splined output shaft and the stronger 3rd gear synco and you will have it made . the 6spd sux unless you are loaded all the time . it has to many gears and not much room between them . 98% of the time the truck will be unloaded and a daily driver .

Rock on guys, thats for all the great info, im gonna look into the fuel pump issue if there is any at all on it. The transmission shifted smooth *** butter and gauges looked to be workin when i drove it around. I Believe it was a 5 speed and he did mention something about the fuel pump being replaced to the back or some weird stuff i gotta find out. 10,999 is being finienced threw them. Don't have the credit to go somewhere or the time to be saving money, and having a duelly whould be the deal. I would be only using to tow the crusher wheeling which would be about 5 times a year im hoping. Sooooo i will consider my option and will still look around. Gonna get 3500 together and go looking somemore guys.

Thanks again for all the great info.

For a 5-time-a-year tow rig, look for a older truck with a BBC. Still useful as a truck when you need it, but without the upfront cost of a diesel. That's what I'd do. The only reason I bought a diesel is cuz it is also my DD.

Your info is a little off Dott, 89-93 uses the Bosch VE pump 94-98 used the P7100, and 98.5 is the start of the Bosch Rotarythrough 02 (started with the 24 valve). 2003-2007 is the common rail.

If messing with the older 12V, look for a p pumped engine for sure
