Alabama Road Trip

Headed to Gadsden, Alabama very early in the moring (or maybe even tonight). Anybody wanna jump on board for a "little" road trip? I'm paying for everything; just looking for a spare driver and/or someone to help me stay awake.

I-20 almost all the way, so if you live near I-20 and east of Dallas, I can pick you up and drop you off.

I did that trip when I bought my 89K5. It was in Birmingham. Me and a buddy of mine left at 9 o'clock friday night, got to Birmingham 7 am the next morning. Look and drove the K5 made the deal then loaded up. Left Birmingham by 8:30 or so and got back to Longview around 6pm. Needless to say I was beat. The last hour was real hard staying awake.

If it wasn't Easter weekend I could probably break away, but no dice. Have a good trip Hatch!

Round trip solo in a weekend kinda wears on ya. 1400 freakin' miles.

Made it back at 3:50pm today. Sweet pull. I bet I could've run 80+ w/trailer, but didn't want to go that fast. 65 mph with overdrive turned off worked fine and had the rpm as high as I wanted to go. The wind drag of the fifth wheel plus a head wind coming home kinda killed fuel mileage. Around 9 mpg.

Going out I ran 77-78 mph as much as I could (almost everywhere outside of city limits) and knocked down 16.5 mpg, calculated (not read from the overhead computer). At those speeds, 4wd dually...I'd say that was fairly respectable fuel mileage. I installed a Superchips tuner just before I left, set for "Tow-Safe" which I think adds 75 hp (advertised).
