Any Dallas area electricians here?

The short story is I need to get a larger electrical panel to get a 240V outlet put in the garage of the house I just moved into to run my and plasma. I don't have the cash to have it done right now so I thought that someone on here might help me out.

I have a bender, and plasma that I would be glad to put to use to help someone with a cage or other project in return for helping me with the electrical work. I just thought I would throw it out there and see what response I get. Maybe we could both benefit.

I am in Coppell. Feel free to PM or email me at [email protected]. Thanks.

Grant

Is the panel undersized or just lack of space. If it needs more space you can buy thin breakers depending on the brand. Complete panel change outs are expensive so just trying to help save a little.

If the house has an electric dryer you can build an extension cord depending on the size of your .

Thanks for the input. There is no room for thin breakers. I think there are already some in there. I have an extension cord but the laundry room is on the front of the house and the garage is in the back.

I know they are expensive. I don't mind parts cost I just though I might be able to save some money on the labor part. Surely there is someone who needs access to a bender for a cage that know electrical.

I am sure he appreciates you volunteering his time for him. Just for the heck of it though here is what I am working with now. The 30A in the middle has a burnt bus bar.

Yeah, I would recommend replacing that panel and not trying to add anything. You already have burnt bus, and its close to being overloaded. (For the keyboard commando electricians, I am fully aware this a 16/32 panel, but there is no reason to use up all 32 slots, especially with there being only 30 available now)You are looking at having to install quad breakers just to make room ( I try and avoid using quads at all costs).. Get it replaced, slapyou a 200 amp 30/40 panel in there, ditchethe twin breakers and have extra space. Afterall, its an electric panel, which can pose to be a fire hazard, which can spark a fire and burn your chit down, then you have a bad panel, no plasma, no bender, everything gone.. Think of it this way, would you cheap out on the brakes on your rig?? Nope, because that causes a major safety concern, same thing with electricity, do it once and do it right!

I am for sure going to get the panel replaced. It is just a matter of how. At this point it is a cash thing so that is why I thought this thread might help with that. I am also trying to see if I can get it covered by a home warranty. We shall see. Thanks for all the input so far.
