Arizona Bound

Things will get hectic over the next 18-24 hours and I may not get another chance to post.

I'm meeting midnight crawler and lynne's toy in Mesa for a week of hotter-n-hell wheelin'. Leaving sometime tomorrow (Friday), as soon as my dually is out of the shop. Returning on the 15th/16th.

I/we will report from there if we have internet capabilities.

AMF!

I'm taking two digital camcorders and a digital still. One of the camcorders has night vision...our first run is a night run Saturday night with some locals.

One day, when I have nothing else to do, I will get to the videos. But actual wheelin' takes priority (and getting ready to wheel).

Wow, Arizona is awesome. We arrived on Saturday afternoon about 5:00 pm and checked in the resort and headed out at 7:00 to the crawlinaz group and did a night run in Florence Junction, AZ. We hit upper Woodpecker which had about three waterfalls. Hatch almost rolled end over end on the second waterfall, but was able to recover and make it up unassisted. It took us about 4 hours to make complete trail and we headed home about 3:00 am. It was very hard wheeling a place we had never been to in the dark. We decided to save our jeeps for the rest of the week so we headed to the rooms.

On Sunday evening we met up with a family from Houston, Texas and took them wheeling with us and went back to "FJ" on our own and view the scenery on our own. We had a blast. I think Texas is about to have a new wheeling family.... The houston family got hooked.

We woke up early Monday morning (5:00 am) and headed out to the Grand Canyon up by Grey Mountain, Arizona and we took Hatch's and Lynne's Jeeps. We arrived in Grey Mountain around 11:00 am and begin the amazing trail called "Grey Mountain Trail". This is on an Indian Reservations and trails must be followed and you must stay on trail at all times. See pics for details. It is took hard to explain, it was beautiful. About two hours into trail we ran across two girls about 18 years of age that were about to pass out from walking all morning trying to find help in this remote area. Thier truck had a flat tire the night before and they spent the night with thier boyfriends and decided to head out first thing in the morning to find help. If we wouldn't have ran across them, they wouldn't have made it in my opinion. Once we gave them water and food, they hopped into our jeeps and we went searching for the vehicle and friends. They had no idea where the were, but with some recolection of some points, Hatch, Lynne and I followed tire tracks that looked like a street vehicle and about one hour into the search we found them. Once everything was fixed, they headed out and made it to a major road and we continued on our journey to the Grand Canyon Lookout Point. After enjoying the lookout we headed to the Kanab National Forest trail and headed down the trail and seen wild life like Elk, Wild Pigs, Turkeys etc. We headed back down Grey Mountain to our tow rigs and trailer, loaded up and made it back to the resort at midnight. Wow, what a trip.

Today is Tuesday and we are resting in resort. Hatch is getting a new tire at four wheel parts because he popped it on Saturday night, Lynne is changing her tire because she popped on Monday. I am tighting my muffler down since we broke a weld and it came loose. We plan to head out early tomorrow to Sedona, Arizona to wheel a trail called broken arrow and enjoy the red rock scenery. They say that this is the most scenic part of Arizona, but I don't know how that will out do the Grand Canyon. We will have to see. We will finish wheeling Arizona on Thursday by wheeling Florence Junction again since it is the closest to us. On Friday morning we will head out and stay in Las Cruces on Friday evening. We are making arrangements to meet in Las Cruces on Friday evening and wheel Off Broadway, Cayanne Canyon or other local trails. Will head out Saturday morning and be back home by Saturday night.

See link above for additional pics added.

Post up more soon.

Hatch, Lynne's Toy, and Midnight Crawler

Sounds like you guys are on one of my dream wheelin vacations. The two 18 year olds add an unexpected twist but I am glad you were able to help them out. I have been to Arizona a few times in the past few years and I have always loved visiting that state especially the grand canyon. I still have dreams of wheelin there...someday.. Again I am jealous of you guys.. have fun, crawl up a red rock for me.

I am envious. Sounds like a great trip. Midnight Crawler does great write-ups. I almost feel like I am there with them. Well, in about 2 more years or less I will be through working full-time. I hope to be able to make some of these extended trips and not just weekend runs. Maybe I will be able to tag along on some these great adventures.

See ya'll.

This is from our first night. I stole the pics from the crawlinaz forum. We didn't even break out our cameras; too busy trying to figure out what the hell we were doing wheelin' a tough trail we'd never seen before at night!

Hmm...the pics are too big. Stand by.
