Computer Quit Working Need HELP!!

My office computer has been infected with a virus, it is running very slow and sometimes takes several attempts to reboot, to get it to come back alive, I cannot afford to loose the information that I have. Also the Task Manager quit working which from what I have researched is a definite sign of a virus.
I use this computer on a daily basis and need it back to running condition ASAP. If anyone knows of a good repair person or they do it themselves and can get down to Texas City or are close enough for me to bring it to you. PLEASE contact me 409-943-4305

THANKS!

Joe

Hey Joe,

You should be able to start the computer in SAFE MODE. This will run only Windows programs and should not execute the virus. Run your virus suite in SM and hopefully it will pick it up and remove it. You can also get the files you need from the computer as well.

I will give that a try. I was able to slow it down a bit, there is a file called "hosts" that it is operating out of so I deleted the files in it and renamed them to another folder, that has seemed to help a bit, not much though.

When booting the computer, it's either F2 or F12 I think. What virus program are you using?

get Kaspersky or Bitlocker.. for your malware and AV protection.

Got issues with malware, spyware, etc.. download and run malwarebytes. of course if your system is infected badly you won't be able to get to the site to download with out a lot of patience and tweaking..

F8 gives you the menu in Windows when booting..Safe mode, etc..

I found where that lousy virus was hiding and KILLED IT! HA HA IT had taken over the host file under the System 32 folder. I deleted it and ran Hijackthis, Spybot and Registry Mechanic, now almost everything is back to normal except that it has deleted the files to open my startup and taskmanager, but for now I can live without it.

Ran malwarebytes and it seems to have worked. It boots up faster and runs faster.
