Corpus Christi or South Padre

Sometime during the summer we are gonna head down to either Corpus Christi Or South Padre Island. I'm trying to decide if South Padre is worth the extra 3 hr drive? Whats there to do in both places. Also open to suggestions for other places to visit within reasonable distance to Houston. Gas has gone up so much we aren't gonna travel too far from home.

IMO, Corpus is crap...but that's just me. SPI has so much more in the form of tourism wine & dine relaxation. Great hotels, beach houses, restaurants, etc. Lots to do if you're coming down to visit. We're planning a convoy out there this Saturday, I'll try to remember to take some pics for ya. We usually got out to the East Cut, which is pretty much the end of the line for SPI. Also, we could set up another convoy out there if you decide to head down this way. & Mexico's only 20 minutes away...I'd take you to eat the best real Mexican tacos ever...if you're into that . So I vote SPI.

I grew up in corpus and i'd much rather visit than live there anyday...Corpus has some stuff like the aquarium and lexington are cool to check out. SPI is nice as well but further

We made the trip this past weekend despite cloudy skies & 70* temps . Headed about 30 minutes outside of access 6...about half way to the east cut but right past the nude beach. Here are a couple of pics, we made the trip down the beach in the 4wheelers to some of the bigger dunes. Only cop seen was about 20 minutes away.

Thanks guys, too bad I won't be able to take the blazer or 4 wheeler. Next question, whats the best places to eat in Corpus and Padre? I think what we are going to do is stay over in Corpus Christi on our way to South Padre. then on the way back we will either stay again in Corpus or go over to Port Aransas.

first place i thought of when choosing between c.c. or s.p.i. was port a. i'd rather go there... not just for the fishing but it's more relaxed with less teenagers... been to all 3 enough tiumes and would choose port a hands down... then again i prefer surfside and quintana here around houston above galveston and crystal beach

Teenagers are only around on Spring Break. To me, SPI is just so much farther head as far as accomdating tourists. Go to CC & SPI, then report to us which one you thought looked nicer & where you had more fun. Other than that, without telling me what you'd like to do, there's not much more input I can give.

I don't think I will have to worry about teenagers cause we are going in 3 weeks so school won't be out.
