Deadly accident

I didnt know the guy, but I saw this posted on another site and figured someone here might've known him.

It just goes to show that you have to be really careful doing the thing that we all love and that your time can come when least expected.

It is with the deepest regret that we report the loss of a Lone Star Jeep Club member, fellow Jeeper, and very dear friend in a freak accident while attending a four-wheeling event in the mountains of Colorado.

Mr. Jim Parker ( "JP" on the LSJC forum) lost his life when an approximately 300 pound boulder dislodged from the mountain and landed in the Jeep which he was driving. The impact caused him to loose control of the vehicle, and his passenger, also a Lone Star Jeep Club Member Nancy Ingle, grabbed the wheel and diverted the Jeep from plunging off the mountain. The vehicle finally stopped when it struck an embankment and over-turned. Several other LSJC members were in other vehicles with the group when the accident occurred but no others were involved.

No other information is currently available about the accident. Nancy suffered a broken arm and to our knowledge has now been released from the hospital.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jims family and friends, both here at home, and those still in Colorado. We will attempt to update this as information becomes available.

With deep felt regards,

Board of Directors
Lone Star Jeep Club

I agree, but in this case it was a freak accident. He wasn't doing anything goofy or risky, just driving on a 2WD county road in Colorado.

I spoke to some of his fellow club members tonight and others who had been on the road just days before.

When your number's up, it's up. An engine could be falling off of a jet's wing right now above me as I type this.
