Got Fire?

Look what popped up a few miles west northwest of me this afternoon.

It's a pretty big one too.

Got Fire?

Hope it goes around you. Maybe it'll catch some unsuspecting tonks taking a nap.

I'm kind of hoping the 30 mph west winds right now will bring it strait to me.

Lord knows that the whole area would only benefit from a good burning.

Man the bright orange glow on the horizon line is really cool. It is back lighting the smoke plume.

I tried to take a pic of it with my phone but it is to dark for it to get an image. I wish I had a real camera to snap a pic of it.

Before the sun went down where I could clearly see the ridge lines from up on the hill behind my house I would say anywhere from 5 to 10 miles.

From the looks of it it is slowly making it's way south and east along the ridge tops towards me.

A little more info on whats going on. I outlined where I am at and my place is 5,500 acres. Right now looking at the smoke the fire is moving just a little bit northeast of east.

Quote:
DETON COLE, Val Verde County. 4,300 acres, 15 percent contained. The fire is in rugged terrain 40 miles southwest of Ozona, burning in tall grass and brush. Three residences are threatened. Texas Forest Service taskforces worked the fire last night and additional aviation resources have been requested to respond today.

Well the smoke is thick enough that you can barely see the hills and small pieces of ash are starting to fall like snow.

Black = Monday
yellow = yesterday
red = current
green = me
arrow = wind direction (blowing 20 to 25mph and gusting)

The map is on a 2 mile scale.

My house is solid metal and I have a fire break around it. Everything except the trailers are inside safe and sound. And the trailers are metal and parked inside the fire break as well.

If things do get interesting all I have to do is get in the dozer and enlarge the nothing to burn zone.

They are. But the worst part is the neighbors bee hives on the ranch across the road are going ape sh!t.

They were swarming my house when I took the sunset pic this evening. So if I get evil and cause someone on the board to get but hurt don't take it personally it is just the Benadryl doing it's thing.
