Guess I'm staying at my job

My current employer counteroffered with an equal/better deal so I guess I'm staying. Kinda worried about getting fired down the road, but then again there was no guarentee that the new job wouldnt fire me either. Guess my point is, if you want something bad enough you have to make it happen.

New title will be Production Manager/Maintenance Supervisor (until new maintenance person is found), then I'll just be Production Manager!!!!!!!!!!!

WooHoo! Can't wait to get started, 2 of the 15 people that will be working for me will not be happy but the other 13 are excited already. Changes are right around the corner and I'm excited to say the least.

welcome to management. Don't worry about the 2. Just do your job.
you can always fire them if there a bad influence on the 13.

I was wondering about this job situation earlier and was a little concerned about you anyhow. Glad to know you get to keep a little stability.

are you and your wife already on an insurance plan with your employer? I was afraid that she might lose coverage during/because of the pregnancy on switching insurance plans...

We are both on her insurance, she has a great job with a huge company. So didnt have to take that into consideration when I was offered the other job.

doesn't matter how they take it, your a manager now. All that matters is how you handle it. Be fair to all concerned.

I changed jobs and had no problem getting coverage for my wife and her being with child. I thought I would have to cover it all, but they said it didn't matter is I already had insurance before.

Congralutions Clint!!!!! That's great news.

Just a suggestion, you might want to talk to your employer about taking a manager training course. It would help you greatly with all different situations that will arise in your future. Keep your company and you out of potential trouble.

Agreed 100%

My job is to go across the country and tell people why they are doing bad! Lucky me. But...I also tell them how they can fix it and justify why their numbers are bad. I treat them like I want to be treated and I also tell them how to get out of the rut.

The thing I hear the most is thank you, the last person just told us how bad we were doing, but never how to fix it.
In return I am getting the best numbers ever in the company.

Treat people like you want to be treated.....it goes a long way!

Congrats Biatch!

Also wouldn't hurt to tell your boss thank you for the counter offer, expain all the positives about the company and you are glad you stayed.

The power of the tie can be great! Remember, not everyone is as smart as you are.

All great suggestions except George trying to get your tie hung in one of the line machines lol
Are you going to keep your head shaved still?
Just ribbing ya man, congrats on a wise decision.
My thoughts about what the CFO and the company owner may have on their collective minds is not to fire you but to improve the company by keeping you with them. They would not have countered the offer of the other company if they did not mean it. They would have thanked you for your work and let you go on to the next job. It is way too difficult to hire, train and keep good employees. Insist on quality work from your people. You can bet the company expects those numbers to stay where they are right now. As long as you keep the company in a position to make money by keeping the machines at a high availability you and your team remain valuable to the company. The management course is a great idea and will show you mean to do as well in this new position as you did when you were the engineering tech. Good luck and always do your best.

Thanks, yes the head will stay shaved, it has gotten me this far why change it now. There was some tension today at first but I quickly put that to ease by telling them that things were going to be ok. I believe this is a good move for me, the operators and the company.
