Helping with Offroad Park design. What do ya'll want??

I got a phone call today from one of the guys that helped get Rock Trails at Tolar up and going with some interesting information. As most of you have heard, seen or read there is just not alot of extreme terrain out there naturally occurring, so it is mostly for milder rigs and it has not had alot of traffic this year most likely because of this.

However, the owner at Rock Trails has decided that he is going to be a full time off road park and has declared that he wants to be the biggest offroad park in Texas. A big claim I know, but he is not messing around. So far he has started on a 3 acre rock garden...yeah, 3 acres. He has built a mud racing pit for side by sides and is starting a mud pit for trucks. He is also opening up an area of the park that was off limits and it planning to build extreme trails in that area. Currently there are just huge cliffs from blasting and rock mining, but they are going to use equipment to build steep trails with large rocks. He is also building a tuff truck challenge course, a lake and a new camping area. He is putting in a well for better faclities as well. Claims are this will all be done this year. He has employees working on this full time from what I understand.

He is also going OHV through the state for the back of the park.
So, the deal is that I am suppose to go out there next Saturday and give feedback on what those of us with more built rigs wants. The owner want to do what we want and what will keep people coming back. They are open for input. Matter of fact if anyone wants to come out that would be good to. Let me know what you would want to see done.

Pretty sure barnwell is. Isn't it like 1300 acres? Tolar is 900, but maybe that did not include the quarry area he is opening up. I think the idea is to just have the most stuff.

Hidden falls claims to be.

Im a fan of technical crawling. Much like Clayton offers. But also enjoy using that skinny pedal on steep climbs.

Barn well is 1800 acres.

Like Justin, I'm into technical crawling with big rocks, big climbs and the occasional loose, full throttle runs.

Tree's ranch is over 4000 I think its 4500 ...Hiddenfalls claims to be 3000 but heard it 2800 close enough I guess, both are big nice parks

On to the question big climbs with big ledges maybe even offset ledges.

This sounds awesome. The more parks the better. If he can make it similar to Clayton, hidden Falls, and Trees people will come for sure. Hidden Falls is the most expensive park and they always have people there without a problem. Can't wait till its done. Might need to plan a trip there in November or so.

Rock gardens are ok but tend to be either too easy or impossible. I actually would like to see somewhere put the effort and do something like WeRock did in Spring. Excavator + culverts + crap tons of concrete =

Basically a homemade K2, which is awesome.

I like techinical crawling, big ledges/waterfalls and a chance to hammer down. I don't care for any mud or even the dirt trails like BMRA.

What are the details for anyone that may want to come out on Saturday?

I like to take it easy and trail ride. Technicality scares me lol. Slow and steady wins the race.

This was kindof my thought. They have enough rock to create all kinds of ledges for sure. We were talking about digging trails and then placing rocks. I dont know how realistic it is

Since he is planning a tuff truck course there may be some man made concrete stuff...I dont know that part yet.

As to Saturday I just committed to meet out there in the morning, but I wont bring my rig or stay long. He just asked me to come look around and give my opinion. If you or a group of you want to come down let me know and I will get a definate time. The only down side is that the owner is out of town this weekend so we will be talking with the other guys working on the project.

I actually like trail rides too...Black Sheep and Green Mamba are two of my favorite.

This sounds like some things are really gonna be upgraded and improved there. Went to their Facebook page and they are talking about the upgrades. About 5 1/2 hour drive for me but I will go if it is a nice quality park.

Went out today to talk to the guys and progress looks good. The rock garden is more of a rock race course and is looking very good. There is even going to be an area that is full of water. They are also going to build steep uphill trails in the ledge area pictured. There is another area I did not get pictures of that is probably a 100' drop where they are going to build an uphill race course. There is a Chevy truck beside the rocks in one pic to give you an idea of size. They are 2-4' thick so it is not small stuff. I am already excited to run what is ther because there and there is suppose to be more done by next weekend. If any of y'all want to come out in a couple of weeks after some more progress thy really want input and want to build what we want. They have the materials and equipment to do it. Here is the area for the uphill ledge trails. There is one spot that is doable as is...I think. It's a 40' ledge that spans about 150 yards.

I know the idea is to use all of the available resources to create the ultimate park. Though I personally REALLY like the WEROC course idea. I don't know how realistic it is because it requires concrete and possibly outside materials to build but man, I have always wanted to compete and as simple in design as those courses are, it can make for some super fun crawling.

One thing I notice about offroad parks is almost nothing man made can trump God's designs so I would love to see some long trails with offset ledges with some hairpin offcamber ugly climbs.

Hey, I'm sure whatever you guys come up with will improve the park no matter what. WEROC WEROC WEROC

You could spend 50 million dollars trying to build trails and it would not draw as much business as 12 nice looking women in firm short clothes serving food and drink.

Went out and ran the start of the rock garden. These pictures are in a 60-80 ft area or so. The plan is 3 acres of this combined with some milder stuff. I am meeting with the owner and equipment operators some time soon to talk about the rest of it. They are now talking about artificial water falls and pumping water from the top down a 40ft ledge stacked with rocks like these. This stuff make everyone interested or do you need something nastier? Harley, is this as good as hooters?
