I LOVE Lowes.....sometimes!

Ok check this out. I went by Lowes last night and went to the scratch and dent section and saw a Whirlpool 50gallon electric water heater. It had a small dent on the top cap of it which affects NOTHING and they said they had sent it out and it would not fit in the customers closet. I need one for the new crib. I could not find a price on it anywhere. I talked to the lady and she said well let me see what a new one cost. She came back and said $358.xx. I said I tell you what I will give you $200 for it right now. She called the manager and he said how bout $150? SOLD! I went back today to pick it up and went back there to the new ones to see the elec specs on it. I looked at the part number she had given the manager and it was for a 6 yr warranty 40 gallon.....$358.xx, mine is a 50 gallon, 9 yr warranty......$398.xx!!! Hells yeah!

Then went over to the tile section and saw some killer looking 18x18 tile. Price, $1.11 a tile......WTF that is CHEAP!! I then looked down at the bottom rack and saw the real price of it......$4.45 a tile!! I went and found the manager again and she said well I gotta sell it for the cheaper price, our bad! She asked me how much I needed and I told her like 47 cases (8 tiles each) and she said well I only got 30 something cases but I will order you the rest and will charge you the cheap price......Hells yeah x 2!!!! I figured it up and I got $18XX bucks worth of tile for $451!!!! Then I found some lights for my bathroom, hallway and closet for like $2.50 a piece! Also bought some 100W flourescent light bulbs....the pigtail kind for like $2.50 a carton......5 to a carton. Man I felt like I had broke it off in Lowes after I left that place. Bout time I guess! Now if they would just screw up on the price of that big stainless steel Kobalt tool box.......

Nice score. I prefer to shop at Lowe's, but I usually find the good deals at Home Depot. My latest one was a Makita recip. saw marked down from $160 to $99.

The Kobalt toolbox with the fridge and radio be da chit...they should mark that mofo down. I got a Brinkmann bullet smoker a couple of weeks ago...was $60 but they took $20 off b/c it had a small dent in it. First brisket came out delicious

TexasSilhouette just gettin started
I got a Hitachi 15 Amp dual compound miter saw at Lowes on black Friday weekend. Marked down from $399 to $199. They had 10% off Hitachi power tools and I had received a $10 discount card in the mail. $400 saw for $170. Got another $10 coupon when I checked out too. I wanted a DeWalt saw but for the money I'll live with the color.

Well I might have to try that when I go back. Im gonna have to buy cabinets pretty soon unless I can find what I want at a surplus building supply place. I have been in two of those places and all they have are those cheap made particle board junkers.

that is all you are going to get from Home Depot or Lowes unless you want to dish out some cash. We decided to have ours built and they are awesome.

Well actually they have some hickory cabinets at Lowes that are really jam up looking and look to be built really good too. They are the ones that come in the boxes and you just buy whatever cabinet you want for where you want to put it. Was it terribly expensive to have them built?

Not for the amount of cabinets and kind they are -- I feel a really good price. They are pecan - done all natural finish. All the ones in the kitchen and both of the bathrooms and a cabinet in my laundry room -- installed and finished for under $3500. I am almost sure you will not need half the amount of cabinets that I have !!

Wish I had found that good of a deal, I just spent $800 on tile at home depot. But I 99cents a spft isn't too bad. Now I've got 2,100 pounds of tile in the back of my 1/2 ton truck.

Well when I get to my kitchen Im gonna lay it all out and see what I need as far as cabinets go and then go to Lowes and price it out. If it is close I will just have them built. I just have the kitchen to do and maybe a big towel closet in the bathroom. My kitchen is set up for quite a few cabinets though......the layout came from my moms kitchen.

Always plan for more than what you need -- cause believe me -- I thought I would never use all the cabinets I have -- but they are all full.

Let me see if I can find a picture of what we have..

Here are just a couple of them...

I know I will not have to worry about them warping or fading and looking like crap -- they are very solid!!

Just go all Stainless Steel like the resturant kitchens. There is a place in Tyler that will build anything you want, it's Stainless Steel Fabricators and they are off of Hwy 69 towards the airport.

Yeah I already figured out about the more than you need thing. I ended up with 1600 sq ft. of shop and its full already and I dont even have all my tools down here yet.

Bruiser you ever ate at the Bodacious in Henderson? Anyway there table tops appear to be made from galvanized sheeting. It looks really cool too. I did some research on it and found out that some companies treat there galvanized with hexavalent chromate......ever see the movie Erin Brockovich or read about Hinkley, California.......!! I did see alot of things on the net bout using solid pure zinc countertops. It looks awesome but having trouble finding a source local. I can get them bent to whatever I need. Im thinking the SS tops would be $$$$ plus SS is hard to take care of and as a ex truckdriver I would be in there with the jewelers rouge buffing the shat out of it!!

SCORE!!!! Man I went to Lowes today to look at toolboxes and went to the scratch and dent section and lookie there.

Got a Fridgedaire electric stove with flattop cooking sureface for $100 bucks!!!!

It listed at $498 but they had dropped it or ran into the back of it up at the top and dented the back of it in......it kinda warped up some of it but heck its just pot metal! I loaded it up and brought it home. Messed with it tonight and got it looking like new again minus one back corner where the metal stressed and it pilled the paint. A little appliance white touch up paint and you will have to look hard to tell. $400 off WTF cares!

I also noticed they got the big Kobalt stainless steel toolboxes for 20% off.....hmm?? Sure would like to have the big one......dont want the one that has the radio/fridge in it but the next smaller one. If I could find a Lowes 10% card to go along with it I would probably pull the trigger. I wish they would drop one.....LOL!

HA last month I needed a new piece of chain for my engine leveler. I went and picked up 6 foot of 1/4" forged chain rated at somewhere close to 30k.. ehh way over kill but o well. It was listed at $6.25 a foot. Seemed like cheap insurance to support a $3k plus motor. I take it up front after the lady in the back figured how to use cutter and bag it up. I head to register and of course the guy can't find the part number in the computer. He called a manager to go get a sku and a price. Some how they came back with $3.60 even after i told them the correct price. I figured cool a lil discount since they just wasted 30 mins of my life. The total rang up just under 4 bux. I looked at it and asked if he was sure it was correct. He assured me it was the proper price and the manger confirmed it. I pulled out $4 and laughed all the way to the truck.

Hey thumper I'm not sure on the price of the kolboalt box but, I'm still loving my CSPS stainless box from sam's club. 42"x 20"x 60"( or close to it.. ), It was just over $800 but 4-5 times less to a comparable "professional" strap on box.. I've had it for almost 2 years now and it lived in a bay at 4wheelparts for the 1st year of its life with no problems and a few compliments.

Well little update on Lowes. I finally got my tile awhile back and for all the crap I had to go through the manager gave me a 20% off card. Last Friday they had there cabinets on sale for 20% off and I use that and my card to buy them. I got the hickory cabinets. They are super nice and they are ready to go....just hang them up. They got a diswasher in there right now for 40% off I might go pick up tomorrow.
