my thanks giving sucks

I got home from offshore today just in time to see my 7year old boxer before we had to take her to the vet to be put down. Come home from dinner and she is seizing on the floor. She had cancer and held on long enough for me to get home and see her one last time. The worst part is me and the wife get home and our 2 year who doesn't under stand is asking for her.

Their short lifespans is what makes owning dogs so heartbreaking at times, yet also forces us to truly befriend an animal that can make a huge difference in your life.

Sorry for your loss and good luck finding the next family friend, may she/he help show you the good things in life.

Thanks for the comments. It has hit my wife a lot harder than what I expected. The next dog we get is going to come from a rescue.

So sorry to hear you lost your friend. He can't be replaced in your hearts, but obiviously you have room in your hearts for a fortunate and needing new friend. Lucky new friend it will be.
We took in a stray 2 months ago. Poor thing had been abused. He is a light in every day.

My heart goes out to you, your wife and your daughter. Loosing any dog is bad, bit boxers always seemed more human like to me.

I lost mine a few years back in a violent accident and it was hard.

It will get easier.
