No INS Surcharge

So I get this letter from the State, basically saying that I'm getting a No INS Ticket through the mail; I'm going WTF and go inside to double check when my ins is due and its good till the 13'th....

So I look it up online and see this ****...

Quote:
Q: I received a No Insurance surcharge but had insurance at the time of the ticket.

A: You may contact the Department to provide proof of insurance so your Safety Responsibility suspension may be lifted. However, this will not remove the ticket from your driver record and you will still be required to pay the surcharge.
Yay to me....

And of course the number to DPS is busy..

HD SCOUTII will become famous soon enough
I got one for a BS speeding ticket. 1st of all the speed limit in my direction is 5mph higher than the speed limit in the oncoming lane, Of course he was sitting at the other mph sign, pulled me over. I tell him one moment Im looking to see which paper is the current one, he says "Thats OK, Ill be right back!". He comes back with the speeding ticket and a no insurance ticket stating if he does not receive the ins paper when requested he can write a ticket for no ins. What is the purpose of the new bullshit software they have to prove your insured then???

How can they prove that you are driving that vehicle on the road illegally?

If you could afford to then get a lawyer. Doesn't sound very legal to me.

Did you ever get a ticket for no insurance after September 1, 2003? I read the surchage program and it is stupid in my opinion but this if not for your current insurance. This is for a past ticket. It is surcharge that was placed above and beyond the price of the ticket.

I did get a ticket about a year ago (did not have a card in car at the time) but it was good, so I took a copy to them they photocopied it and that was the last I heard of it..

But the kicker is I just payed off all my tickets about 4 months ago, to get a hard copy of my DL back; So I called Municipal Court that I had received the ticket from, And they show Everything is closed/ clear.. She said that that comes from the State and that I need to do whatever the notice says/ pay the surcharge to keep my DL....

She latter called me back, and said that she did some checking and that it Was Dismissed, and that I should call the DPS and get some more info about it; But that she/ they would send a letter to the DPS stating that it was cleared if needed...

I think it is BS personally, you pay taxes, you pay your fines and then you have to pay a surcharge?

I have had tickets from 10+ years show up (and from other states at that!). Try going in and paid cash for it back when you got it and see how much the DMV people laugh at you.
