Other Hobbies

For a solid 20 years I have dedicated most of my spare time and alot of time that should have been used otherwise to my favorite hobby....playing in the dirt. Havnt really picked up many other hobbies due to the fact most are expensive.
Some past hobbies i have had:

Way back I made crap out of leather....very time consuming. Relaxing tho. Dont recall why I quit, likely the time issue.

Still piddle with my guitar some from time to time, just enuff to get frustrated.

Collected various knick-knacks...most worthless.

Enjoy fishing, but the fish dont bite in my part of the state.

Lately been thinking I need to try some different things. Pretty sure what Ill wind up doing, but am interested in hearing what others do when not busy with work, family and 4x4s.

Hunting is one of my most enjoyable past times and I've been doing that since I was about 3 with my dad. It doesn't matter how bad of a day or week I've had it all just seams to dissolve once I hit the woods. I'm one of those trophy hunters most hate but it's just about getting out, watching, learning and relaxing. It helps the fact that the ol' lady enjoys going with me and spending time down at the deer lease.

The last few years I've done less wheeling and have spent more time down at the lease and I've gotta say. It's been nice. No Drama, No Attitude, and no dealing with the guys that have tender feelings. If you run across something in the woods you don't like you just shoot the fawker!!!! LOL

Other than hunting, wheelin and spending time with friends and family I spend the rest of my time working in the yard with the ol lady.

Didn't know you played guitar. I tried my hand at that and guess I didn't have the patients for it.

I rode 2, 3 and 4wheelrs for a while but with age comes the cage. Still wouldn't mind having a sweet old dirt bike.

My ole man taught me how to shoot and reload when i was real young. Think we skipped about 20 years but for some reason the itch hit me a few months ago to start again. It's a fun hobbie that's a lot like wheelin in that it can cost as little or as much as you want.

I'm also very well versed in drinking and whiskey.

Really leaning toward getting a classic car of some sort. Not interested in racing, just a cruiser. It seems to be hard to find anything decent that dosnt require cashing in the 401k. Not sure I want a "project" car, unless its just minor stuff.

When I was a youngster I built model cars. I don't do it anymore but I have a small collection of unbuilt and unopened kits.

Now I spend the better part of my days working and paying the bills.

I am currently building a rabbit rod (46 chevy truck, chopped, channeled, scratch built chassis, 318, 727, 9 inch)

With a wife and a four year old, I don't have much time for any other hobbies like I used to. I used to ride dirt bikes, cross country mainly and have thought about getting another bike. The wife wants four wheelers.

We like to go camping, just haven't had time other than when wheeling. I used to drag race, but found crawling was more fun, less expensive and can include the whole family, so now we just go watch the races. Rodeos are another family favorite. The wife loves to fish, so I go catch a buz with a line in the water while she catches the fish.

Thinking back at all the diff **** I did really makes me feel old.

model cars for years into my early 20's
I have a few stashed under the bed still in unopened boxes.

Roller skating as a kid went every Sunday. Just went to my grand daughters 4th birthday at the skating rink and I'll be dam I can still do it.

Went fishing allot as a kid don't any more

Bow hunting

Dirt bike's for a couple years

Bowling was in a league for a while.

Street bikes twice 76-80 then 06-08

Drag racing in 1975 again in 1987-90

Model airplanes for a long time competed in events everywhere within a 400 mile radius
Even in Dumas, I remember using a porta potty for a target. The local guys came out at night to visit with us (we had camp trailers the events were 2 days) brought there tater guns and we had a blast.

I have always had some kind of cool car. We travailed through out Europe showing my 66 Chevelle when I was stationed in Germany.

Showed the 31 model A for 3-4 years drove it as far as Biloxi Mi. for a show.

And since 1990 I've bin Going to the river I built the Elcamino in 94 There is still a 12 ft section of the original 74 blazer under the jeep.

Still have some plains left some have never bin flown anyone interested?
