Professional Fiberglass Person needed - Houston, TEXAS

Anyone here know of someone that can make a professional negative mold off of an existing part, so I can make a run of several parts?

I am hoping for someone in Houston, but let me know otherwise.

PM me for more information.

Thanks guys!

Thanks guys, I thought about a boat place, but wasn't sure if they would do something like this, even though it was fiberglass.

BTW, I am researching have the K5 Blazer Truck conversion produced for about 10 guys, so that is what I am looking at it for.

His name is Ro Yale?

Thanks AUSTIN!

Is that a one piece deal with the bulkhead attached to the top?

Seems like a great idea, but might be hard to have a roll cage with something like that.

It is fiberglass top, which a metal lower that detaches. Roll Barr will fit behind it.

Why? Not being an a s s just been trying to figure out why? Are the roofs prone to rusting and this is a replacement?

I don't understand your question as it is not the roof.

It is to replace the full fiberglass top that cover the back passengers compartment, with a cap that make the blazer into essentially a truck.

Short answer; Because it is COOL!

In the second pic on the Green Blazer the fiberglass portion is the tan part.

Oh I see. Haha! I'm freakin retarded! I thought it was just a cap that went over a truck cab. I couldn't for the life of me figure it out.

Well, got the quotes in for just the fiberglass and I am in shock. I know nothing about the costs of fiberglass molds, so I am going to have to sit down and figure this out.

Fiberglassing is not hard. I have done small parts and it is easy. Making the plug, and then the mold are the crucial steps and you can even vacuum bag it pretty easy. I did a fuselage for an RC plane a few years ago. It was alot of work but turn out like I wanted. Get some high density foam and start carving and sanding it till you get it where you want it. I am sure there a website out there telling you how. Also, Fiberglass has gone up quite a bit in the last few years so before you start I would see if it is even feasible. ABS composite may be another solution.

Here it is pretty much laid out in film. Your mold is only as good as you plug and your piece is only as good as your Mold. So everything has to be perfect and smooth. it took several months doing the plug and mold to get the first one pulled. good luck. i have few ideas for some larger stuff, I have thought about doing it again but I think i will do the plug and hire out on having the mold done.

I know, but when these things COST me money to build it is no longer cost effective to even build them. Unless. we can find a less expensive way to do it with the same result, this project has stopped. On top of that, I have MAYBE two other people remotely interested and no one wants to come off with cash at this point.

I know HOW to do it, it's the WANT. I mean I want to do it, just I can't with the other projects. I am going to ask him that about other materials that would make it cheaper to make, I mean less expensive.

Depending on price im in for one. I would love to ditch the full top as it will make it alot easier to go topless while living in an apartment. So keep in touch. And I would also be able to loan you my truck to produce the bottom part. Im moving to College Station this summer so I will be considerably closer to make this work.

It looks like you are the only one interested at this point. Maybe one more at ck5. At this point $800 is what I am shooting for. Plus shipping and you would need to paint it. Now that is with a NEW sliding rear window, so I think I could go cheaper with just a 1 piece rear.

Well that sucks. I thought there were quite a few people that wanted one? I guess the reintroduction of the soft top is hurting interest?

Thats more than I wanted to pay but if I start saving my pennies I can come up with it.

My offer still stands on loaning my truck to you also.

Does the 800 include the bottom piece or just the fiberglass piece?

I would probably stick with the 1 piece to keep costs down but you could offer a rear window upgrade if one would like to go that route.
