i like the paint on the plane... the trailers are mweh...
edit: sorry - wasn't trying to "bash" em and don't think they are better or worse than most brands of trailers which was my point... the are not the end all be all of the trailer world by anymeans... the overwelming support for them doesn't suprise me in here... remember it's just a name though...
this one was bought to be immediately modified
no paint on cross members
wiring sitting on axle
got butt connectors
weld
deck was made of boards from the outside tree edges as well... looked flat on top but were not square on bottom
i like the paint on the plane... the trailers are mweh... look good on the outside, have a cool sounding name... but watch the underside welds (or lack of), and the wiring.... popularity does not always = quality
I take it you haven't priced the cost of steel lately or a private jet. Their prices are way competitive to others. You get what you pay for.
I screwed up and bought an off brand trailer and you can tell when it's going down the road. It has way too much side to side action with a heavy load. The next time I need a trailer it will be a Big Tex trailer.
UUGGHHHH,.. I just threw up in my mouth,..
It's perturbing that Big Tex Trailers is being bashed in this manner. The wheeling community in this ENTIRE state of Texas is actually quite small when ya' think about it,.. EVERYBODY knows everybody!!:toast:
Alot of us in this site ALONE have met and wheeled w/ Big Tex and have been hooked up with great deals by him.
As a fellow wheeler he KNOWS the importance of trailering rigs and what fellow wheelers expect because he practices the sport/hobby himself.
I find the disrespect appalling and incredulous,.. Sally

i'm pretty sure what i put was not a personal bash... go read my edit above... this thread has been hijacked so it doesn't seem to matter... hell i don't even care if a mod just gets rid of the post... it's just a trailer:roll:
Okay,.. SO,.. some people buy lawn-mower hauling trailers with the understanding that the trailers are to be "immediately modified" and then turn around and back-stab the company by posting pics of the unfinshed product as it being bad-business popcornn.
The FACT is that it's NOT just a trailer that's being discussed here, it's a friends' REPUTABLE business that's being bashed,..
To say the thread has been "hijacked" is incorrect. Sally
never owned a BigTex trailer or met anyone of you guys yet but think this has gotten out of hand. Just one man's opinion and thoughts. Hope everyone can just get along. Just my .02
Wow, this thread got out of hand in a hurry chrfal
Let me start off 1st by saying thanks to EVERYONE for all the comments, I really appreciate them, good or bad!!! Just like everyone here I realize there are many many manufacturers out there to choose from when it comes to buying a trailer and ours is by no means the END ALL (as bigbronco put it).
Also, I'll be the 1st one to admit that we are not perfect and are going to have the occasional flaws here and there same as any production item.
bigbroncojeff i apologize for the undercoat on that trailer not being applied very well and the butt connectors on the wiring. If you are unhappy with it shoot me a pm w/ your contact info & I'll arrange for it to be re-undercoated and rewired for you bigok
Again guys if i can help in any way let me be the first to know beer
Alot of Big tex stuff is great, but i think it boils down to dealers and what they do to their stock of trailers. I know most of them come pre-made, but don't some of them make the trailers up? As for electrical do the dealers put those on?
You might be a great guy to deal with,( from the response of the board it seems obvious) but the guys in Odessa/Midland didn't want to deal with me since i came in wanting a car hauling trailer and they didn't think i was serious. Then they quoted me $3800 for a steel trailer when i can get the same thing way cheaper and got it financed and got treated right when i bought the trailer. I got a trailer brand new for $2000 off the lot, that includes taxes and all of the paper work fees. Plus i got it financed.
I probably would have dealt with Big Tex himself but the cost of gas to go from here to Dallas would have killed any saving that i would have gotten and I figured i would deal with someone in my local area for service reason,( although i will be doing all of my own service).
Plus the trailer i got was well made the only thing i saw that made me redo anything was the wiring but that was a easy fix for me. They did the same thing Big Texas done, and so i don't really seem too surprised. We just tightened the screw nuts and taped them up to keep water from getting inside the connector, nothing major.
Oh yea if you say i got what i paid for, then ask Zach how his trailer has been upholding as he got the same trailer i did, except his is red. Like him the wires was the same deal, the screw nuts came lose and touched each other causing the trailer brakes to lock up. Although it could have been traced to a faulty brake controller.
I couldn't find my last post of when i talked about the new trailer so i figured it might have gotten deleted of I just can't remember where it's at.
