The new position at work is going ok so far. Still learning some things and still trying to convince my boss to let me handle certain situations in a different manner than his. But all is good.

I need suggestions on two things.

I need cheap software that will track in house orders as they are being produced. This needs to be easy to operate on a windows based format. Need to be able to view this from any computer on the network. We are using excel right now but I think this can be done with an hourly updated program that anyone in the company can view at any given time.

#2 thing is how to track preventive maintenance items on equipment, some kind of software similar to the above software? Needs to be easy to use and very basic and cheap. Once again I am using an excel spreadsheet and this getting out of hand with the amount of equipment that we now have. Also, I need the software to be searchable in the future, so an operator can search to see if we have had a similar problem in the past.

Is anyone on here good enough with computers to write this software to fit my needs?

you could use database software instead of the spreadsheet software. It is generally easier to configure for the type of application/operation your wanting to use it for.

cheap and what you want do not go together

for what you are asking a SQL backend with a web based (Intranet) front end is the best way to go. room to grow, user friendly and will save a lot of headache and money in the long run
