Thinking of moving

Hey Y'all,

I'm thinking of moving but staying in Texas. San Antonio is getting too crowded for me.

Dallas is too big. Houston is out of the question. Not thrilled with the Austin area.

Where in Texas is a good place to settle down and relax? I don't want to go any further south than San Antonio. Pan handle, Wichita, and the I35 Corridor, San Angelo, are all being considered.

Thanks,

Manny

Thought of this myself. I love the cold winters and hate humidity....so I'm stuck here!

Happines is not a state of residence, it is a state of mind.
If you can't find happiness where you are, you will not be able to find happiness anywhere.

You should spend a few days in El Paso.....it will make you feel a lot better when you get home.

Amarillo or Lubbock is about 250K people.

It's spread out and slow moving.

I've already rode the unhappy move train. I know all about how unhappiness following you.

This move is free and clear of that. San Antonio is just getting to crowded for me. I miss hearing crickets at night, seeing the stars, and not worrying about a neighbors dog crappin' in my yard.

The only things I don't like about Amarillo is that we are currently in a drought. Everything is dry and dead.

And we have bizarre temperature swings. It was 12 deg just last week now we are pushing 90.

And this town has a lot of snobs, most of which run the town.

And there are not a lot of good paying skilled labor jobs, plenty of general labor and truck driving jobs though.

There is a "feedlot funk" that covers the town every once in a while. Smells like **** because it is ****.

The wind blows. It basically always blows. Sometimes long and hard enough to make you crazy.

I predict the High Plains will run out of water in the future because we a pumping the Ogalala Aquifer dry.

Other than that, it's not too bad.

Eat of Houston is Nice, there are a ton of nice places away from the big cities that are alot slower.

I am about to move about 5 more miles East of Houston; 40 miles all together, and it is nice and quiet, but close enough to the nearest Hooters.....

Pretty sure he doesn't have anything to wheel and other than that this place is pretty boring. Frankly its about the only thing keeping me here.

There was a time when I wanted to move north to Colorado but the sissylala's have taken over the state so it's out. Have friends who live in Rapid City SD and they are loving it. Bout the same size town as the one I'm in now with the same cost of living.

If we are talking only Tx then I'd have to say probably junction area..ish.

If you want a slow pace and small town to live in, then I would move to Alpine. I love it down there.
