Towing two trailers

I'm thinking about buying a pop up to tow behind my car hauler and can't seem the info I'm looking for. Are two bumper pulls all right? I know max length is 65" shouldn't be close to that.

Anyone here done it?

SAK-5 did this for years. There is nothing saying you cant. Just dont go over 65' and make sure all lights work.

We towed a camper and trout boat for years when I was a kid. Backing is almost impossible, keep it under 65' and forward you should fine.

I would check with the DMV, it use to be that the 1st trailer had to be a 5th wheel or G/N and second trailer a bumper in Texas, maybe its changed. Two bumpers in tow was not legal. I see it all the time though...I've looked but cant find anything indicating the above. Doubles on Commercial trucks is legal.
Always make sure the front trailer is heavier than the rear trailer, especially if doing two bumper pulls.

I would say a gooseneck, with a second trailer that is tiny might work.

But I have tried 2 bumper pulls and it royally suked! A one ton dually pulling a 24' camper with utility trailer loaded with 3 4 wheelers was nearly impossible to go over 50 mph.
The back trailer will whip back and forth, and that's on level ground. I would hate to see what happens on downhill grades.

I will never do it again.

Found it, CFR 393.70 which all states are suppose to adhere too. Each state can be more strict, but the CFR's are the minimum.
First trailer has to a 5th wheel per this
(2) No more than one tow-bar or ball-and-socket type coupling device may be used in any combination. There is alot of good info here and its obvious some is not enforced much, especially the towbar rules

We towed a pop up behind our car hauler for years before we got a big enough trailer to haul both rigs. The pop up did wag but being it was so light we never noticed it and never once got asked about it by the troopers.

Like all ready said. It was a mofo to back. LOL
