4.3 Vortec Considerations?

I'm considering a transplant in the Zuk for more power and automatic.

I have access to a complete donor vehicle 4.3, auto, 4x4 for all wiring and accessories. I'm not really concerned about fitment, but do have the following concerns:

1. Cost and vendor for wiring harness modification for EFI
2. Durability of Auto Tranny, It is a 4x4. Do not know exactly what it is? 4L60E?
3. Options for gearing, doubler, atlas????

What are your thoughts, concerns or recommendations.

Thanks

I would bet its a 700r4. That motor/tranny is exactly what I plan to run one day.

If you have the complete vehicle you don't need any thing else use the wiring harness out of the donor. If you don't want to do that the harness will be $400.00 to $700.00 depending on who you go with. Painless, Howell, Speed Way. If you don't know, the trany should be a depending on the year could be 700r4 or a 4L60e witch for a better explanation is a electronically controlled 700r4. You should be able to find any t-case you want for it 205 203 208 241 Atlas. It's the same bolt pattern as a t350 trans. This can be a week point as its only a 4 bolt hook to the adapter I cracked 2 700rs. I went to a t400 witch will bolt up to the 4.3 and it will still run fine without the 4L60 plugged in to the harness. My 350 Vortec runs just fine after the 5 sp transplant. In my experience the engine doesn't need any input from the trans to run properly.

The tranny will hold up just fine I don't think the v6 has enough power to hurt it. I ran my 700 behind 400 pluss hp and never hurt the inside.

Do it.

I got a 1995 Suzuki Sidekick with 4.3 V-6 with turbo 400 and a 3 speed Stak box. Really nice setup. I like the 4.3 I had one in my S10 blazer on Rockwells and 47" tires and I couldn't kill that thing. Would spin those 47" tires and that rig was heavy with 2 1/2 ton axles. Will be a huge upgrade from stock motor.

take the intake off while you have the motor out.
change upper/lower intake gaskets, get rid of the quick connect heater connection, change the center port injection to multiport injection.
then drive it another 300,000 miles.

Pull the intake, and order you better cam and slap a tbi and boat intake on it.
TBI is as simple as you can get in fuel injection setups..

I run one in my yota. '93 CPI with a th300 to toyata crawlbox, to D300. When I had 37s and one 4.7 t-case it would light them up all day. Nice power and you just cant kill them. I had it redlined in a mud pit for about 15 minutes (Not my brightest moment) but didnt blow it up. I did manage to blow the ps pump, water pump at that time, but thats it.

Parts are cheap for it and all accessories from a 350 will swap to it. Wire harness is easy to mod on your own if you want to go that route. I just got a factory wiring manual (125 pages of it) when I cut down my harness. I run everything on switches for simplicity and use an E2000 frame rail mounted fuel pump to feed it.

I wish I could blow mine so I can buy a 5.3/6.0 but cant justify doing so until it blows up.
