AAM 11.5 GLO Diff cover woes

I picked this cover up from another member on here to run on my dodge rear axle and after test fitting it I found a pretty significant design flaw.

Pics

It is going to no doubtedly leak from each side once filled with fluid. I guess I can weld some metal on either side but it kind of defeats the purpose of buying a pre-fabbed cover. I'll try and contact GLO and see what they say, maybe they'll chime in on here.

Anybody else have one of these covers on their AAM 11.5's?

Mine fit very well and I used the Oem gasket.

Looks like there's been an update since your cover was made.

Yeah I figured something like that might be the reason. Kinda odd that they would have ever sent one out that obviously wouldn't seal.

I sent GLO a pm about it but I fully expect to just do a little welding to it and make it work.

why would they even cut it like that. Just leave all the material between the bolt holes.

I got a pm back from GLO and they said the holes are blind holes and no fluid will leak. I will have to double check when I get back home but I would have sworn they open up to the diff.

I was thinking about getting one for my 85 crew cab as I'm running an AAM 11.5 out of an 2008 Dodge diesel. May have to look elsewhere, don't care for the looks of that. Thanks for posting.

I'm running DOR (dodge off road) diff covers and they fit great with no leaking. Just used silicone. Super stout also.

After checking out the holes again the indeed open all the way up into the inner diff area. The threads on the case adjusters can be seen inside the holes.

GLO informed me that many of their customers are running this first design cover without leaks but I'm not sure how...

I gave it a try with some RTV to seal up the cover and it definitely leaks. GLO said they will switch out the cover to the newer design but I'm currently waiting on the details.

Good luck dealing with them. They had some of the worst customer service when I had dealing with them.. Hope it works out for ya, there is definitely an issue there for sure..

I've always good luck with Shawn & GLO. Good company to deal with from my experience.

Sucks there's an issue with the cover...but good to hear they may be helping you out even though you didn't buy the cover through them directly.

run it like that, its DCV. diff case ventilation. keeps it cool.

mine is fine, no issues whatsoever. also have nothing bad to say about any deal ive had with them. always straight up over the phone as well when i kind of ask dumb questions.

GLO doesn't owe me anything nor did I expect them to offer to switch out the cover for a newer design, especially since I didn't buy it from them. I can see where they wouldn't want a faulty diff cover out there though. I originally was just curious and wanted to see if anyone else had seen this issue.

Worst case scenario I'll just weld some more material on the sides, but I'll see where it goes as far as getting it swapped out.

Thanks for all the replies.

Well I came home from work today and there was a box sitting at my door from GLO. I've nothing but good things to say about Shawn and GLO. They stand behind their product 100% and they are quick to fix any issues as well.

Brand new 11.5 AAM cover to replace the previous design and fix the issues that I had with it. Top notch customer service in my book.
