All Pro Triple X Member

Ok -- need pros and cons on this. Does anyone have one of these yet or know someone who does? Is it an exclusive product of All Pro or does someone make something compairable?

If I get some positive feedback I am going to get it for the "Toy" because I have some $'s stashed away and my boyfriend will be gone to work for about a week and a half so it will be a HUGE surprise for him.

So I am asking before I buy what yall think about this - I dont want to just go and get it without knowing any feedback from some "experts" Thanks for any suggestions or comments

So the yota needs a drive line E-brake?
Marlin has a dual skid plate for less...No E-brake of course. I have no experiance with either but I thought I would ask if the E-Brakes was a must. Marlin is cheaper if it is just the crossmeber you need. In the pic it shows only one t-case mounted but will take dual cases for future up-grades.

Yeah we looked at both of those. Thought this product with the E-Brake would just be a nice extra.
Question - we have an 84 Toyota ext cab but the motor and trans is from an 81 model - and we do have a double down transfer - would these still fit?

1981 saw the first major changes in the Hilux model. A 2.4L 22R motor replaced the previous 20R and could be found connected to a L45 4-speed or a L50 5-speed. Both contained "top" shifters for the RF1A 21 spline gear driven transfer case. The standard gear ratio used in 1981 was 3.90 and the front end received a new grill and square in place of the previous round lights. 1981 saw the introduction of Trekkers made by and Trailblazers by Griffith. These were the predecessors to the 4Runner.

Here is some info on the 81. If it is a 4 speed that would make it a L45. 5 speed would make it a L50...regardless, These transmissions are shorter then the new ones that started in 84 I believe G52 tranny they are longer.

So for $399 you get drive line E-brake and skid plate? You may want to call them and see if it is complete kit. You may have to buy a brake caliper. I'm sure they would answer your question if it would fit you application.

Thanks for the information - sounds like you kinna know these trucks -- I will call them - and from what I see with All Pro you get the crossmember, skid plate and it says "and All-Pro's famous disc parking brake kit. Not sure about the caliper - but I will call and make sure of what all is included with the kit. Like i said I am going to get as much information as I can so I can make an educated discission on which to buy. One thing I have to factor into my discission is the fact that my boyfriend is on the road alot and when he is home we try to utilize our time putting the truck together and not so much as to building the parts. We are going to have to build a flatbed, roll cage, rock sliders, front and rear bumpers . So that in itself is VERY time consuming. Just trying to make life a little easier and to be able to get on the rocks as soon as we can

any up dates?

I just bought the Trail Gear cross member (same as Marlin). in my assembly I did buy new cross member bolts. I felt the original ones were a little to short. 12x1.25 I bought the bolts at Autozone and Advance I believe they are 35mm long and grade 8.8.
After installing the cross member I did have to loosen the rear T-case mount to get it to line up. The holes to mount the cross member are elongated so I had to move it side to side to get it to sit in the middle. Over all I was happy....3/8 thick.

here you can see the elongated holes on the end.

Dual cases and both stock low gears. with my tranny and diff gears I am at 89.27 crawl ratio. Makes a big diffrence.
trannyXtcaseXtcaseXdiff=89.27
3.93x2.28x2.28x4.37=89.27

cool - so you did not have any major problems getting it to bolt up right? That is a big concern we have - cause of alot of stuff we have heard about trail gear stuff bolting right. We had to put our build on hold for a bit cause of our vacation and me going to SC to see my daughter graduate from Basic but we hope to get working on it real soon - it needs to be done before June of next year so we can take it to Moab when we go -- I will make sure Dan sees all of this - thanks for the pics

cross member was fine. dual case adaptor...one of the holes for the bolts wasn't drilled complety ..I had to use a rat tail file to get the very edge so the bolt could go thru. but other then that it was okay..the input shaft on the reduction box has a clip that is hard to get on. I used craftman snap ring pliers and heated the clip on my top burner stove to get it to spread. took three hours to figure how to get that snap ring on. but, that don't matter what you buy they are all the same.
