A detroit, powertrax, or lockrite in the front will steer just like a spool when you are on the gas because it locks the shafts together.

I'm spooled in the front with full hydro so it steers just fine. Plus a spool is much stronger nothing to break.

If you are worried about being able to turn tight just twin stick your T-case and kick the rear out of gear and run in front wheel drive.

i'm welded front and sometimes it will push the front end if i turn to quick or if im turning sharp at speed. but for the most part it's fine

Have a spool w/ assist. doesn't turn as sharp as it used to but it'll work.

Mine's Lincoln Locked as well, And it made my Toyota Shortbed almost double the turning radius. It's not a huge deal, just get used to a BUNCH of 3 or 4 point turns on the trail. Hydro assist makes it a lot easier, too.If you have lockout hubs, in 2WD it will steer the same as it used to. Cheapest way to be locked on both ends. If you do decide to weld 'em up, be sure to weld not only the spider gears, but the spiders to the case, and we cut some small tabs to act as bridges across the top of the spider gears as well. The more places you can weld it up, the stronger it'll be. Good luck

thanks guys im running in mud mostly andwhile the trail do get tight sometimes i can handle that it was the sawing action u need in some mud holes to get thru i was worried about.as for turning radius it would have to greatly deminish to affect me and it seams it does not.if the front hubs r locked but in two wheel drive the turning radius would be the same till i unlock the hubs right.

I did mine for ~ $200.00. Tapped the box myself, and ordered the parts from surpluscenter.com
