Been Thinking

I was standing in line at the Courthouse on Friday when I read the news about Harley on my phone. It hit me hard, felt like I had lost one of my best friends. I made a phone call to Bigevil to ask him what he knew, and he was unaware. By the tone of his voice, I could tell he felt the same way. Then I got to thinking, this is a man I've only seen in person on 2 occasions, talked on the phone and via text numerous times however, and had tons of interaction on the internet. It's crazy how close of a friendship you can build with someone on the opposite side of the state. Then I think about all the others I've met, mostly from this site, that have the same situation. We are all so far apart on the map, but many of us have built strong friendships all from the hobby we enjoy. It's crazy to sit back and think about how many friends have been made, or wouldnt have been made just because of one single hobby, or even 1 website. Just think about how many friendships alone have been made just via this website alone. I know we have all had our moments and complained about this place in some way, but it not for the work Kenny did, how many of us would have possibly never met. I think we all owe Kenny a big Thanks for the effort he did put it to make this place what it is/was over the years.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, very well put. I think the summer runs should start back up, was always a good way for all of us to come together even if it was just once a year.

I couldn't agree more. As much as I hate this site because of the new ownership, this site has given me some of my best friends. We are a family, an offroad community, whether or not we always agree, we are there for one another and has each others backs. I admit, I miss the camaraderie of the old timers on here. It has somehow.....changed, but with this tragedy, it has brought us back together. Yall are my family. I appreciate each and every one of you, even when we disagree, like a real family. Thank you for being a part of my life.

I agree, we need to get the summer run back together. To hell with the new owners, let's take out site back and do what we do, like we used to.

I couldn't agree more with what's been said. I know I've made some great friends who've become a part of the family. If it wasn't for this site, I know things would be significantly different for me. I'm in for reviving the summer runs.

How about this year we plan a Summer run for this fall up at the river in memory of our lost friend? Rigs or no rigs we can all reconnect and tell stores about that crazy redhead around a fire.

I was pretty shaken up when I read the news Friday. I was visibly upset as well. When the wife asked what was wrong, I told her a good friend had passed away and she instantly asked who thinking it was one of my local buddies. She was a little confused when I told her it was a wheeling buddy off this forum that lived on literally the exact opposite side of this state. But as I started to reminisce and bring up stories we both came to realize he was just as good as a friend or shoot better than some of my friends down this way. I always enjoyed our whiskey and wheeling texts. I was never able to repay the 2 times he winched me up and over or for taking us around Amarillo without even being asked. It's just a great feeling to have these relationships as has been mentioned. And what's even more badass is when we talk or get together we all just pick up where we left off...no bullshit. The wheeling is great but the camaraderie that comes with it is even better.

I'd be down for a memorial run like I mentioned in the other thread, a long haul to Amarillo but I'd definitely try to make it.

This !

I'll share my time with Harley. I was like everyone else having talked to him thousands of times but never had met him. Well one day I posted up that I was headed to Ammirillo to pick up some axles. Next thing I know my phone goes off. Hey ! Don't bother coming up here if your not going to stop and have a so we can shake hands. So I met him at the Red River entrance and he was in the white cummins yota. So I looked it over and was blown away, but this *** hat was doing doughnuts in a brand new super duty and he came flying up by Harley and almost hit the rear end of the yota. Harley was pissed. But as soon as the super duty hit pavement he blew the rear driveshaft to peices it had beat the bed up inside. Me and Harley were freakin Rollin. So Harley yells out. HEY YOU MAD BRO ? It was hard not to piss myself when he said that.
