Blazer vs JEEP J20

Due to new taxes in Sweden I'm thinking about selling my Blazer. Ive been looking on JEEP J20, I guess its about the same size maybe 1 ft longer. The general idea is to fit my D60 and 14BFF on it and maybe a 6,2 motor and th700.
It currently have a 360 and manual gearbox.

Anybody got some experience of the J20? (compared to a Blazer).

I have to pay 4600 skr = 680$, its extra expensive because its a diesel a petrol Blazer would cost 3000 skr. My small Volvo V40 costs 2000:-

The tax was increased with 45% this year, due to the fact that people have been registered their cars as truck to reduce the tax, sort of a loophole.

In Sweden we don't have tolls so we pay with annual tax.

What I do is that I have it unregistered during the winter and then I don't have to pay.

If the truck older than 30 yrs you don't have to pay any tax.

I also need to have my truck tested one a year if its older than 30 yrs the test is only each 2nd year.

So U think the J20 is ugly, I like the grill but its a little bit long wheelbase 130", 106,5 on a Blazer. So I guess its easy to get hanging on the belly on such long truck.

But if you swap the diesel to the J20, wouldnt the tax be the same? Or did I miss something?

Its all about the age, if its over +30 yrs its tax free, diesel or not.

its possible to legally changing motor to a diesel on an old truck. What I need to do is to test it and do a reregistration.

We sure have, I pay 11.50 sek (1,7$) for a liter of petrol, as I recall it 1 gallon=3,5 liter.

What about the J20 except the fact that its ugly?

Wow, that sucks.

If you like the jeep then get after it. They are pretty stout trucks and you could always shorten it if it's too long.

it a project !! the body is ok, rust on the side of the bed other vice ok. The motor runs like ****, the previous owner has change the carb bla, bla, could be some work to get it to run. I have no experience of the 360 but I heard that it ok. The clutch makes some noise when I release it, so I guess the bearing needs to be changed or the entire clutch. I have to say that the drive line looks a little bit weak. The front cardan looks like a straw, the u-joint looks tiny. The rear cardan on the other side is huge like 4" diameter.

I think Ill try to get it to run this summer and study this "JEEP" and what can be done to improve it.

( I am sorry fore the text below in Swedish, it's just a short presentation in Swedish )

Tjenare.

Mvh
Micke
