Question "Boat siding"--Anyone in TX done this?

I saw a couple of interesting threads on boat-siding full-size rigs on CK5:

http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86240

http://www.members.cox.net/jameshuff...1/rebuild.html

http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=128195

http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142597

Has anyone here in the Lone Star state done this to their rig? Got any pics or tips on it? This seems to me to be a comparatively simple and low-tech way to solve 3 problems on a full-size:
1. Clearance without stupid lift
2. Eliminate rusted out panels and rockers
3. Add in real sliders (and, optionally, cage/tube doors)

I've done this to 3 fullsize trucks and seen it done to at least a couple more. It's definitely one of the best mods you can do for the wheelin' we have out here in Az.

Here's what I've learned...

1) Start w/ a big piece of rectangle tube. I've used 2x5" and 2x6" by .188" wall. I liked using the 2x6" better.

2) Go high. The best cuts I've seen put the [] tube up where the lower door hinge was.

3) Brace down to the frame w/ urethane spring bushings.

4) Tie into new sliders w/ rollcage, seat brackets and such....

.... any other way I can help, let me know....

I'll be in Ft. Worth over X-mas. How far are you from there?

Marv

*edit* .... I see you're down by Houston... Prolly too far.
