Changes in the works

I should have my 88, 2500, 350, with 700 R4 auto, NP241 transfer, 14 bolt 6 lug with 3.73, raised 6 inches in the next 2 weeks. I will be putting 35 or 36s (used tires, just haven’t made my pick yet). My question is about the 3.73. I know I will need to re-gear to get back or increase my low-end torque. My question is how soon will I have to do it? Will it be a very noticeable problem on the street or will it just be a trail issue?

You should be ok. You probably wont be able to use overdrive much and it will take more power to get going.

I had a 93 GMC with a 6 inch lift and 36" TSL Radials with 3.73 gearing. I didn't notice that big of a power loss on the street, but offroad you could tell it. When you change I would at least go to 4.56s or 4.88s.

I had a used lift lined up for $1000.00 installed with new shocks. A 6 inch ProComp for a Chevy IFS. It was the "DEAL". Well.... yada, yada, yada I got my deposit back.
I was offered the 6 inch, new style, Procomp lift for $1288. plus $550 install. From what I have found on the search engine is that’s a good deal. Remember $1000 just jumped to $1800, the deal don't feel so good. I was thinking about the Dick Cepek 6.5-inch kit maybe the stage 2. I don't know much but I do know the Procomp keeps a factory track where most other lifts spread the footprint out wider. I have all my front-end parts sitting in the dining room, inner and outer tie rod ends, upper and lower ball joints, idler arm and pitman arm. If I get a commitment for help from a friend I will probable get a kit for a back yard install. A little intimidating but I’m sure it is do-able. Decisions, decisions.

I just feel sad.

There's several guys from SA on here, I'm sure someone would be willing to help out.
