I have a few questions for you all. What front axle came stock in a 1992 or 1993 3/4 ton ram? Transfer case? transmission? I've been searching on the net and i haven't came across it yet. The reason im asking is because a local guy is selling that exact truck with the 5.9 Cummins for about $1700. Engine has been recently rebuilt, body is pretty much shot but im thinking about buying it and transplanting the drivetrain into an 85 K5. Any thoughts or suggestions? Fair price?

It should either be a 60 or 61. I'm not sure what years had the 61s, they are basically a 60 with a different diff housing to accept higher gears. I believe the lowest you can get for aftermarket gears are 4.10s, but you can make 60 gears work with some mods.

T-case is probably a np205. Tranny should either be an auto (not sure if they had OD then, earlier models did not) or a 5spd getrag which does have OD.

I'm sure Bruiser or OldGoat could tell you any specifics you need to know.

Regardless of what axle it has, that's a g deal if the engine is in good shape.

Auto = A518, which does have the over drive. Basically a TF727 with an OD unit bolted to the back of the tranny. Stock it's preety weak (does fine behind the stock motor), don't plan on putting any HP in front of it, but built ($$$$$) it can handle 500-600 HP.

Manual = Getrag 5spd. Not the greatest manual in the world, but it does alright like the auto under stock HP, which is only 160 HP at the flywheel on these trucks.

Transfer case = NP205. The auto will have a 23 spline input and the manual will have a 29 spline input. Both have 32 spline front and rear outputs. Like any other NP205 they are pretty much bomb broof, but with only a 1.96 low range.

Axles = Front D60 and rear D70, more than likely 3.54 gears in them. Like 4x4Freak said the front my have a 61, but they aren't that common. Look on the front of the housing, it will be stamped with F60/F61 IIRC.

That is a g DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, if it has 3.07 gears it's garaunteed to have the 61. The 60 could only handle up to 3.54s, but it should be stamped like Eric said.

X2 heck of a deal plus you can get some serious HP & Torque gains on the cheap
